Red Fang Chapter 37
“Can’t you keep that damned baby quiet?” Samuel snapped. He was a vague outline against the night sky, unwilling to give up his vigil. Everyone huddled as close to the hull as they could, desperate to escape the freezing wind cutting across the boat, whipping at cloaks and the corners of blankets. “They can probably hear its wail in Arshen.”
“I’m sorry,” Elise said and tried to hush the baby, but it refused to be mollified. “He needs his mother.” “Well, maybe you should go and find her,” Samuel said harshly. “Sam,” Leith said surprised at the old Dwarf’s outburst. “If you want us to leave, we will,” Dren said, and the boat rocked as he stood up. “Ignore him. You’re not going anywhere,” Dallon said from somewhere by the mast where he was hunkered down and wrapped up in his cloak. The boat bobbed among the reeds, secured by a rope lashed around an enormous stump to keep them from drifting off.If you'd like to read this as an ebook or paperback, please follow the links.
