The War of The Rim

Military: War

994PC
1003PC

The largest war Rheiknor has ever seen since the Cataclysm. King Bruelis Amalheim united the kingdoms of Rheiknor and waged all out war against the evils of The Rim. The war ended with the death of King Bruelis who was slain by the Valaraukar Zarughal.

The war began when King Bruelis Amalheim's wife Rhialan Amalheim and all his children, except Jorelle Amalheim, were slaughtered by Zarughal who managed to slip into the capital during a Mist Storm. Zarughal escaped the city and fled back to The Infernal Steppes. King Bruelis was overwhelmed with despair and an unbridled rage. He mustered his forces and began the great journey. He sailed and marched across all of the continent and rallied all of the kingdoms of Rheiknor to his cause. Together, they coordinated an all out invasion of The Rim, establishing multiple landing grounds and fronts.   There, the kingdoms of Rheiknor fought against the forces of The Rim as one. Osland led by King Bruelis invaded The Infernal Steppes and established the bastion of Hellfort. The kingdom of Miscrea invaded The Ghostlands at the behest of King Rolinian Hawkon with the support of the Dhandoruhl Technate and the Nordic tribes. The Sultanate of Aeshar invaded The Smoldering Wastes with their host. The elves of Kevelon sallied out from their shimmering wall and headed north into the unknown while their old allies in Raishar invaded The Abyssal Plains.   The beginning of the war was met with success. King Bruelis had made a successful landing and thanks to many great battles won, he bought Osland the time it needed to establish Hellfort. From Hellfort, King Bruelis was able to march across the Infernal Steppes and establish more forts and strongholds while fighting against the armies of hell itself. He drew nearer to the infernal stronghold of Dreadridge. The other forces of King Bruelis' alliance managed similar feats as well across the Rim.   Many lives were lost across all fronts. The goal was to conquer the Rim as it had laid siege to their homes, but this war would prove to be too great a task for even all of the people of Rheiknor could muster. The further the forces of Rheiknor pushed into the Rim, the more the Rim pushed back. There seemed to be no reprieve from the nightmares that lay in wait for them. It was in the year 1003 PC that tragedy struck the alliance that would spell doom for the war. King Bruelis was slain by the very fiend that started it all, Zarughal. With the kings death, the alliance fell apart. Soon the forces of Rheiknor would slowly recede back into the safety of the continent, leaving what little ground they gained in the Rim to its mercy.
