Kevelon
The mystical lands of Kevelon and its Autumn Lake.
The Kingdom of Kevelon, the oldest civilization in Rheiknor, stands as a testament to the resilience and wisdom of the elven race. Founded by the first known elves in Rheiknor, Kevelon has withstood the test of time and remained an unwavering sanctuary for elves and their allies.
Ruling over Kevelon is the esteemed Dawn dynasty, currently led by King Sylnan Dawn and Queen Trisleth Dawn. The Dawn dynasty has governed Kevelon since the catastrophic event known as The Sinking of Rheiknor. When faced with relentless attacks from encroaching monsters, the mages of Kevelon devised a desperate measure to protect their homeland. Through a powerful spell, they sank much of the continent into the sea, separating the Rim from the Mainland and safeguarding Kevelon from the devastation.
Kevelon is adorned with a glistening wall that encircles the entire kingdom and its core territory, serving as a symbol of the elven people's resilience and their commitment to preserving their ancient culture. The capital city, Ethalas, is where the elven throne resides and serves as the heart of Kevelon's governance and power.
One of the greatest assets of Kevelon is the renowned Praelon Var, the most prestigious mage's college in all of Rheiknor. As the leading magical guild in the world, the Praelon Var guides and shapes the understanding and practice of magic. The elves, being the first magic users, are known for their unparalleled expertise and proficiency in the arcane arts. Their knowledge and skill have earned them a reputation as the most skilled and versed magic users in Rheiknor.
Throughout its history, Kevelon has remained a sanctuary for elves and those who share a deep affinity and respect for their culture and ideals. The kingdom's core territory is carefully protected and preserved, allowing the elven civilization to thrive and prosper amidst the ever-changing world around them.

Under the absolute rule of King Sylnan Dawn, the organizational structure of Kevelon is designed to ensure efficient governance, effective administration, and the preservation of elven traditions and values. The structure is characterized by a hierarchy that enables the smooth functioning of the kingdom's various sectors and ensures the king's commands are implemented throughout the realm.
At the apex of the organizational structure is King Sylnan Dawn himself, holding supreme authority over all aspects of Kevelon's governance. His decisions are final and binding, and his word is law. As an absolute monarch, King Sylnan Dawn is responsible for making crucial decisions regarding the kingdom's laws, policies, and the overall well-being of his subjects.
Assisting the king in governing the realm are trusted advisors and councilors who form the Privy Council. These individuals, chosen for their wisdom, experience, and loyalty, provide counsel to the king on matters of state, offer insights on various issues, and help shape policies that ensure the prosperity and stability of Kevelon.
Beneath the Privy Council are the Noble Houses, which represent the noble families of Kevelon. These houses possess significant influence and play a vital role in upholding the kingdom's traditions and cultural heritage. The nobility serves as a link between the king and the citizens, acting as regional administrators and overseeing the governance of their respective territories.
Working alongside the nobility are the bureaucratic officials and administrators who manage the day-to-day operations of the kingdom. These officials form the Administrative Council and are responsible for implementing the king's directives, managing the kingdom's resources, and ensuring the smooth functioning of Kevelon's infrastructure, such as taxation, law enforcement, public services, and defense.
Additionally, Kevelon is home to the esteemed Praelon Var, the premier magical guild and mage's college. The Praelon Var operates independently but maintains a close relationship with the crown. It serves as a source of magical knowledge, training, and guidance for the kingdom. The Venefect of the Praelon Var holds a position of influence and advises the king on matters pertaining to magic, the arcane arts, and the welfare of mages within Kevelon.
The organizational structure of Kevelon revolves around a centralized authority under King Sylnan Dawn, supported by a hierarchy of advisors, nobility, bureaucratic officials, and the esteemed Praelon Var. This structure ensures the effective governance of the kingdom, the preservation of elven traditions, and the protection of the realm and its inhabitants under the absolute rule of the elven monarch.Culture
A young elf gazes upon the wonders of Kevelish architecture.
The Kingdom of Kevelon is primarily comprised of elves and half-elves. It is the go-to place for elven kind. Elves have a complicated history, specifically Kevelon, with the rest of the world, especially humans. Prior to the Cataclysm, elves, men, and other races stood together against the forces of the Rim. But when things became dire, the elves felt they had no choice but to unleash the nuclear option. Since the elves caused the Cataclysm with their magic, the blame for the devastation and loss wrought from it has been entirely pinned on every elf thereafter even if they had no part in it or were not complicit. Not all harbor this resentment towards the elves, but the people of Osland and Miscrea certainly do.
The elves have a complicated existence and feelings about themselves and the other races. In a way they feel set apart and elevated above the other races and that they have unique needs and customs that must be met and cherished. On the other hand, they take pity on the other races and resent how their actions greatly hurt and devastated entire civilizations and peoples. They feel they owe a sort of penance to them and that they should work to restore the other races back to where they once were prior to the Cataclysm and even before the arrival of monsters in Rheiknor. The irony is that only the elves have lived long enough to even remember such times. Their vision to restore these other races to their former glory is a vision that not even the lesser of these see for themselves since they are living so closely to the present.
Within elvish culture there exists a duality, between superiority and responsibility. The superiority in that the elves have withstood the worst of the Rim and continued to thrive despite it, and the responsibility in that they possess much power, knowledge and resources and that they have a duty to share these with others that do not possess them or need refinement. Every elf falls into one of these two camps, each with their own flavor and detail. Such is the life of an elf in Kevelon.Demography and Population
A typical day in the joyous streets of the capital.
Astral Elves, bestowed with celestial grace, hold a revered position within Kevelon's society. Their divine touch and extended lifespans make them natural scholars and spiritual guides, often assuming roles of sages and priests. Preferring contemplation and philosophical debates over mundane politics, they offer profound wisdom and insight, shaping the cultural tapestry of Kevelon.
The Dark Elves originated from beyond the shimmering wall to the north of Kevelon called Thordorn. Before the Cataclysm, Thordorn was a vast forest beyond the wall to the north where the Dark Elves dwelled. The mages of the Praelon Var who casted the spell that caused the Sinking of Rheiknor was first cast from Thordorn. The spell was so powerful that it sundered the surrounding landscape of Thordorn that was supposed to be left untouched by the spell. It instead decimated Thordorn leaving a desecrated wasteland in its wake. The Dark Elves lost their entire home and were forced to seek refuge from within the walls of Kevelon. They eventually adapted to life within the core territory of Kevelon but many still hold the other elves, especially the Praelon Var. Many of the Dark Elves left Kevelon and spread out among Rheiknor, some even venturing to the Rim to seek somewhere they may live as they did in Thordorn. Dark Elves find solace in subterfuge and stealth and dabbling in things other elves see as forbidden and taboo.
Eladrin, hailing from the Feywild, embody the ever-changing seasons and vibrant nature of Kevelon. Radiating a spry and lively demeanor, they maintain a deep connection to the lands they inhabit. Celebrating the beauty of nature and cherishing its rhythms, the Eladrin infuse Kevelon's culture with a sense of enchantment and awe.
Half-Elves, born from the union of elven races and Raishen refugees, bring diversity and versatility to Kevelon. With their mixed heritage, they occupy various roles within the kingdom, though rarely reaching the higher echelons of nobility. Valued for their adaptability and unique perspectives, Half-Elves bridge the gap between different cultures, fostering understanding and unity.
High Elves, the pinnacle of magical prowess, dominate the realms of arcane within Kevelon. Highly intelligent and sharp-minded, they excel in the Praelon Var and occupy influential positions within the nobility. With their extensive lifespans and exceptional magical abilities, High Elves shape the course of Kevelon's magical heritage and intellectual pursuits.
Sea Elves, attuned to the waters and dwellers of the Autumn Lake shores, embrace a solitary existence. Preferring isolation and eschewing political entanglements, they immerse themselves in the depths of their water dwellings. Strong and resilient, they guard the coastal borders of Kevelon, safeguarding the kingdom's boundaries with an affinity for the aquatic realm.
Wood Elves, inhabitants of the deep forests, embody a spirit of adventure and guardianship. Roaming beyond Kevelon's borders, they act as hunters and rangers, exploring the unknown and protecting the kingdom from external threats. With their connection to the wilderness and their tireless vigilance, Wood Elves ensure the safety and preservation of Kevelon's realm."As light of stars, the world was always ours."
