Voreth

The capital and heart of Osland. The seat of power resides here and King Faelon Amelheim sits upon it. King Faelon rules with reverence for his people but he remains stern and unyielding. It is said that the jingling of gold coins can always be heard throughout the city at any time. Truly the capital of trade in Rheiknor. Individuals of all sorts can be seen throughout the city from all corners of Rheiknor. The sounds of the water breaking upon the stern of a ship is overwhelmed by the peddling of wares from merchants of all sorts, wagon wheels bumping across the cobblestone, and shuffling of feet moving from one corner of the city to another. It is easy for one to get lost within the bustling port city whether it be a wrong turn or simply taking a detour to marvel at the sights Voreth has to hold.

Government

The Blue Palace, the center of power in all of Osland.

The king rules over all within Voreth, for it is his personal domain and fief. Due to the size and scope of Voreth, as well as the rest of Osland, the king created a small council called the Caeruleum Council to oversee matters of commerce, state, law, military, and intelligence. These council members oversee the day-to-day matters pertininent to their station or field. Meanwhile the king has final say on anything but usually defers to his council. Addtionally, the headquarters of the Royal Inquisition Bureau can be found within Voreth.

Defences

The Cerulean Guard assemble outside the Blue Palace to present themselves to their king.

The city of Voreth is one of the safest places in Osland thanks to its numerous, highly trained Cerulean Guard. The Cerulean Guard man the palace and are charged with the defense of the city as well as keeping the peace. The locals often call them Blue Cloaks due to their royal blue cloaks they wear at all times as is the national color of the kingdom. The city is plagued with crime depsite the professionalism of its guard. The greatest threat to an individual within the city is a thief or worse, a cutthroat. Its streets are numerous along with the canals providing sanctuary for fugitives seeking to do harm to other citizens.    Despite this, the city is relatively safe from monster incursions and thanks to the mages of Kevelon, the city is protected from Mist Storms from numerous magical seals strewn throughout the city within Ward Towers.

Industry & Trade

A lively market spurs to life as new shipments arrive in port.

In Voreth, commerce is its trade. There is no singular resource, other than its ships, that it can claim expertise to. It lays claim to all. There is not a single resource or good in all of Rheiknor that has not flowed through Voreth at least once. The gold is always flowing within Voreth.

Infrastructure

A busy canal port bustling with foot and sloop traffic.

Voreth has many docks and points of entry by sea. It only has two points of entry by land, the north and south gate. These gates act as the connecting point between the Gold Road which runs all of Osland north and south and through Voreth itself. Almost all points of Voreth can be reached by boat thanks to its coninuous canals though some points are only reachable by small sloops.   Voreth has the largest shipyard in all of Rheiknor. This shipyard spans across Voreth and is subsected into different areas of the city where materials are brought in and new ships assembled or maintenanced. If you're in Voreth theres a solid chance that a new ship being built is almost always in your view somewhere. These shipyards run all day and rarely ever stop, sometimes not even for a Mist Storm.

Guilds and Factions

An Aequor shipyard works tirelessly to complete a new Oslan Dreadnought.

The Amber Bay Trading Co. calls Voreth its home and its headquarters lies here within the capital. They insure the flow of commerce within the city as well as Osland abroad.   The other most notable guild in Voreth is the Aequor Shipwright's Guild. The guild is responsible for constructing nearly every ship in all of Osland and repairing them. They have a special contract with the king to insure their monopoly on the naval industry. Though they are the sole builders of nearly all ships in Osland, they make damn good ones.   Another notable guild that delves within the undercroft of Voreth is the Altis Tide, a notorious thieves guild that operates within Voreth and Osland abroad.   The Order of Iron and the Order of Retribution both call Voreth their home. Their main Order Halls are located within the city.
