Ten Towers Bridge
Ten Towers Bridge was originally constructed during the infancy of Novandria, before it had attained the status of the capitol of Eisen. Located on the coast next to the mouth of the Ardan River, at one point the island of Herzenbewachter was a military point to guard the interior lands against seafaring marauders as well as to collect taxes from traders attempting to use the river. The dwarves of Eisen built the bridge as a wonder of its time and named each of the towers after the ten most famous dwarven cities of the time: Silberlock, Tanzenburg, Haekergrube, Opferdamm, the Vergoldet Schloss, Ilgdeduvhen, Mackrenburg, Shlusskrote, Lorelienturm, and Krogestein.
The bridge is itself still a marvel, even if most citizens consider it a daily sight. Each of the towers is independently defendable from the mainland, with the archways fitted with portcullis to be dropped down to cut off the island from the mainland. The arches underneath the bridge are fitted with chains that can be raised to prevent entry into the river by ship. The dwarven construction is solid, and has resisted magical attempts at espionage, as well as traditional barrages from marauding ships.
Rather than using the dwarven names of the towers, the current names are based on gemstones and metals. Rumor has it that beneath all of the towers, there is a crypt containing the jewels of the long dead defenders of the island.
