SkyBound Inn

The SkyBound Inn is located western side of Novandria. It’s a large building that's a mixture of cement, stone, and wood framing. Upon approaching it two glowing signs stand out above its main entrances. Next to the lobby entrance is a sign that says The SkyBound Inn in glowing purple letters. On the sign is a small purple airship that appears to be flying toward the sky, with a swirling trail in its wake. The second sign, in glowing blue lines, depicts a plate of food with two mugs being toasted above it. The matching entrance leads into the Inn’s tavern.   The Skybound inn caters to several different social classes, but most commonly is frequented by middle class citizens. It’s well known for having very clean rooms, with modern conveniences. Some of the rooms even have their own private bathrooms. The Inn is also known for good quality food and drink. The house special is the sauerbraten they serve on Sundays.   The Inn is located on several acres of land, a portion of which has been converted into a large garden. Ryo Valren, retired member of Eisen National Park Services, acts as head gardener. His skill with topiary and hedge mazes have turned the garden area into a local attraction.   A small community of middle class families have sprung up around the Inn.

Purpose / Function

A middle class Inn that contains a dining area and a tavern.

Architecture

The SkyBound Inn was designed by the dwarf, Jasline Duskbrand and the gnome, Elssa Wigglespark. The building is a unique design in the fact that its roof can be raised and additional floors added over time. At the current time, the Inn has six floors.   A moderately size lobby area is located on the first floor. But much of the first floor is taken up by the tavern. The tavern has heavy duty hardwood furniture that is designed to take a certain level of abuse.   The second floor is a mixture of private dining rooms and sitting areas. Often rented out for business meetings and private events. The place settings and dishware on this floor are of a higher quality, and more elegant than the more sturdy items used in the Tavern. A few of the dining rooms have small balconies that look out over the Inn’s gardens.   The third and fourth floor of the Inn are the guest rooms. The third floor rooms share a set of communal bathrooms and a small sitting area. The fourth floor each has their own private bathroom and some also have private receiving rooms. All of the rooms have good quality bedding that is regularly checked for bed bugs and similar issues. Most of the rooms are rented out nightly, though the Inn does host several semi-permanent residents.   The fifth floor is the private residence of Lukas Skybound and his personal workshops.   The sixth floor is designed to accept small primarily private air ships. An elegant lounge on this level provides access to elevators for the private dining floor and Tavern below. An air shuttle service is in the process of being established for visitors.

Defenses

The Inn employs a small number of employees who act as security for the Inn and occasional bouncer for the Tavern. A few magical wards have been placed on the private meeting rooms to prevent eavesdropping. Each of the guest rooms has a modern key lock and the keys are periodically replaced to avoid duplication.

Tourism

The Inn sees moderate tourism due to its unique architecture design. A small display is set up in the main lobby talking about the Architects and how the building works.   The Inn’s garden is also a popular place to visit, as people come to see Ryo's skill with topiary and hedge mazes. Ryo has begun to hold classes concerning gardening and druidic practices.
