Ardwyn

Ardwyn is a vast expanse of icy tundra and towering mountains, extending beyond the northern reaches of the Karidan Peninsula . It is a land of extreme cold and harsh conditions, with long and brutal winters that stretch on for the majority of the year. The sun's feeble rays barely touch the frigid landscape, casting an ethereal glow on the pristine white snow.   The region is sparsely populated, mainly inhabited by resilient tribes and clans that have adapted to the harsh environment. They have developed unique survival skills, relying on hunting, fishing, and gathering to sustain themselves. The nomadic lifestyle is prevalent, with communities often moving in search of resources and better hunting grounds.   Ardwyn is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty. Majestic glaciers, frozen lakes, and towering ice formations create a surreal and awe-inspiring landscape. The colossal mountain range dominates the eastern part of the region. Its snow-capped peaks pierce the sky, reaching heights that seem to touch the heavens.   In the northernmost reaches of Ardwyn, where the frozen land meets the vast expanse of the northern sea, lies the "Watchers' Well". It is a mystical and sacred site revered by the indigenous tribes. Legends speak of ancient rituals and prophecies associated with the well, believed to hold the wisdom of the land and the power to foretell the future.

Climate

During rare warm summers, the ice temporarily retreats, revealing a landscape dotted with blooming flowers and lichens. Nonetheless, the conditions are not conducive to conventional agriculture, and permanent settlement is a challenge.

History

While the region has been scarcely explored by outsiders, it is known to be home to various indigenous groups, collectively referred to as the Iceveil Clans by the people of Karida. These groups, however, do not universally identify with this designation and have a multitude of names for themselves and their land. The Iceveil Clans are reputed to be resilient and resourceful, having adapted to the rigors of their environment. Limited contact has been documented, but the isolation and extreme conditions of the Iceveil Expanse make it difficult to establish sustained communication or understand the depth of the cultures within
