Halflings

The comforts of home are the goals of most halflings’ lives: a place to settle in peace and quiet, far from marauding monsters and clashing armies; a blazing fire and a generous meal; fine drink and fine conversation. Though some halflings live out their days in remote agricultural communities, others form nomadic bands that travel constantly, lured by the open road and the wide horizon to discover the wonders of new lands and peoples. But even these wanderers love peace, food, hearth, and home, though home might be a wagon jostling along a dirt road or a raft floating downriver.
 

Halflings in Alemi

  Second only to Humans, Halflings are found everywhere in Mizra'aki, with a tendency towards rural settings. Still, just under 1M of their over 4M inhabitants are found in settlements.   Nisiri in Badoneti is the only city in Mizra'aki with over 10,000 Halflings, making it the center of their culture on the continent. There are other cities with a greater percentage of Halflings, notably the hamlets of Asinkirk and Malinal in The Aven Caliphate, both of which approach 50% Halfing population.   Halflings tend to avoid the largest cities, with only Newport (Eastfall) joining Nisiri with over 20% of their population. Most notably, the largest city on the continent, Ylleneaor has fewer than 3,000 Halflings, under 3% of the total population of the metropolis. Of cities with over 10,000 in habitants, Halflings are sparsest in the Myr cities of Onolon, Thyfalore, Myssad. and Shemna, pointing more to the wildly disparate habits of Elves and Halflings than to any violent history.
