Blackspiral Hexamid
"If you go south on the Western Grasping River long enough and it'll make a sharp left. That's where you get off, if you know what's good for you. If you aren't careful, you'll wind up in the Blackspire, and you don't want that. Not by a long shot."
~Taggert Clanless, deputy in Alcedene
Purpose / Function
The true purpose of this structure has been lost to time.
The Blackspire Hexamid is the spearpoint of a weapon skewering Seaudyr, keeping the primeval monster dead so long as it remains. The Hexamid is attached to a shaft, which bores all the way down and juts out beneath the continent into the ocean.
Alterations
The Grimlocks drilled shafts into the hexamid and turned it into a tower for a long-forgotten archmage. The tower extends well into the shaft.
The West Grasping River was diverted to spiral inward, altering the Ley Lines beneath in order to increase and empower the magic of the 'tower.'
Architecture
The Blackspire is a hexagonal pyramid made from a single block or a seamless collection of stone resembling obsidian, but harder than diamond. Though nearly impossible to climb due to the steep sides and smoothness, the top is said to be still sharp enough to pierce skin. A set of 9 foot double doors is the only blemish on the outside of the structure, and the magical seal is still intact.
History
The Blackspire has stood in its place for as long as Seaudyr has been inhabited.
