After the initial shock of seeing us still alive, instead of being dead, the group of pirates readied to attack, as my comrades also did. I had a plan to bring the pirate captain up using my butterfly flute, and it did work for a while. However, Jyrone, intending to help, used the grappling hook to wrap around her, but in doing so, he scared away all the butterflies, and the sudden weight caused both of them to fall and hit the ground, with quite severe injuries.
Most of the other pirates attacked the others while Noelle and I both healed those in the party who were wounded. However, when the right-hand man to the captain targeted Noelle with a lightning spell, something in me stirred. How dare he attack my beloved Noelle, and injure her? I would make him pay for his actions! With this in mind, I cast a fireball, and got a direct hit on the man, instantly downing him, and bringing him at death's door. Realizing how my anger had gotten the best of me, I panicked and desperately tried to find a way to heal him. Thankfully, once the man died, I was able to use one of my newly learned spells, revivify, to bring him back from death. By this time, everyone else had slain the other pirates, besides the captain. As everyone was regrouping, the right-hand man brought a knife to Jyrone's throat. However, I swiftly pacified him, and healed his wounds.
Unfortunately, Grin was not about to let the man live. He aimed his rifle, and before I could disarm him, Grin fired the rifle and killed the man whose life I just saved. I was crushed. I could not save a single person. Even with my near mistake being fixed, my choices did not matter. Each and every enemy had died...
The ghoul-dog, that I had pacified earlier...
the rogue, and the man with a crossbow...
The big brute named Bob, and the twin to the little girl that had ambushed us that Mammon had killed...
and even the right-hand man, whom I had put so much effort in to keep alive...
I couldn't save a single person. Only the captain was left, thanks to Noelle reviving her. But she was unconscious and in a very unstable state. I used my last healing spell on her and had to leave her behind.
Seeing all the carnage that was left behind from above, I just stayed up where I was, and even when Grin asked me to get down, I refused, and decided to stay where I was. Only when Noelle asked me to come down and said that it would be a better idea to, did I come down, using my light barrier spell as a platform to lessen the fall.
When I reached the ground, I grabbed my hat, and went to every fallen being in the room, paying my respects to those that had perished in the battle. Grin did the same for a second, and then joined Jyrone, who happened to be Chaos at the moment, in looting the bodies.
I should mention that Mammon walked out of the room, and when he came back, he merged with the dragon cloak that he had found, and turned into a giant dragon, and flew off, bursting a hole in the ceiling. Even though this was a very, very bad thing, I didn't pay much attention to it at the time. I was still shaken that all my choices were invalidated.
After I had mourned for everyone, we heard a muffled sound, and we all went towards it. We found a man that was tied up with his face covered, and when we cut him loose, we found none other than Jimbo, the pink mohawked gnome that we had escaped with at the Prison of SIDEM. He was ecstatic to see all of us and gave us a big hug. I hugged back, though not with my usual natural affection. Jimbo told us that Maze had sent him and was waiting for us. Some tension arose between Grin and Jyrone, and I just pacified everybody, with Noelle's help. Even with the pacifying though, Grin continued to argue, so I went up, and tied a gag to his mouth. I was done with everything that was happening, and I just wanted some quiet. Grin looked at me with a look that showed that he felt betrayed. Seeing this, I merely whispered to him "That's how I felt when you killed him earlier...". After that, we had a nice, quiet walk to where Maze was, and after giving us a hearty welcome, he got his ship going, and we began to head out. However, before we did, a black owl flew to the ship, and delivered a note to us, that read:
"Hey Eliza! Oh, I'm so sorry, I hope you can forgive me."
