I arrived at Maze's house, by pure coincidence. Call it fate if you will, I guess. Upon seeing the house, I decided to have a talk with Maze, and figure out why he sent Red on this kind of mission in the first place.
I made my way over as the first rays of light appeared. I was about to knock when I happened to catch sight of the mask to my right. I turned around to see it, and what I saw frightened me. The mask wasn't just there, it was on a person. The person was quite muscular and was an imposing figure. I had the strange feeling that I was about to meet this being very soon. Then, as suddenly as it appeared, it disappeared. I refocused my attention and knocked on Maze's door. I was greeted by the man I had seen before, but his demeanor was completely different. His seemingly jolly self was replaced by a half-crazed man with unkempt hair, and wrinkled clothes holding a knife, brandishing it at me.
"What do you want? Who are you; why are you here?" he said. "I'm Ralsei, and I came to see you about my friend Red. I saw that you hired him last night, and I came to ask why." He staggered back in surprise. "A friend of Red? I see. I suppose that's what I saw in the bushes yesterday evening. It was you. Well, come in, quickly, before *they* get a better look at you."
I obeyed, sensing the fear in the man's voice. Maze closed the door and bolted it quickly. "Sorry about that. I just don't trust them. See, I have a suspicion that I'm being watched. So, whenever I go outside, I have to act crazy, or else they'll find out more about me."
"I'll tell you a secret" Maze continued. "I'm forming a group that consists of Red, and two other guys I hired. And looks like you're gonna be in the group too. But whatever you do, DO NOT TELL GRIN ALDERS that you knew about this; about me, or the party's creation. I don't even know why I'm saying this to you, but I feel like I can trust you. I can't explain it, but I'm sure I can." "But what if I don't want to join this party?" I asked. "I'm afraid you have no choice. See, *they* already know that you're associated with me. You'll need the protection of the group I am making to keep you safe. You don't seem to be the fighting type." I nodded my head. "Now, one last thing. I need you to distract the party when they arrive, so I can get ready. I can't have them see me like this. Now, away with you, before your companions arrive..."
