The Island of Ferran is a primarily desert island, divided into three distinct subregions, the Ferran Highlands to the north, Lower Ferran to it's south, and the Ferran Desert in it's center.

Nested in a depression along the southwestern desert, the Beast of Shah'ha'dan, a tremendous sand drake, stalks across the coastal desert in search for food.So fearsome is the Beast, that even the The Hunters Guilds has refused the bounties placed upon it. For every enterprising free hunter or sea captain who had wished to fell the beast, all but bone and shipwreck remains of them
