Chedae, The Heaven's Light

The Dragon Goddess of Light

"May the light of my flame shine warmly upon thee evermore."
Chedae, known by the title The Heaven's Light, is the Dragon Deity of Zenethia, the Plane of Light.   As a beacon of the unending nature of justice and law, Chedae succeeded her father Zenthai, The Dragon King, to represent the efforts of good and light in Azimuth. She is revered by most humans, elves, and dwarves. Many cities have temples decorated in the green and platinum of Zenethia. To follow her is to strive to protect those who cannot protect themselves.   Chedae is the newest deity of the pantheon. As such, she must spend most of her time looking down on Azimuth from the Zenethian Castle and patrolling the Eternity Stair, building the strength needed for the next time Esturk may appear.   Chedae is the sworn enemy of Esturk, The World's End, who slew her father Zenthai. She is often allied with Gaia, The Allmother, as Chedae strives to protect the life Gaia creates.

History

The Fourth Age: The Age of Shadow

Campaign One: The Zenethian Heroes

At some point in the late Fourth Age, Zenthai, The Dragon King, had his child, Chedae, and hid her on Azimuth in the form of a donkey.   In 4A 995, the Zenethian Children met with King Alphonse Brancana. He offered them aid in exchange for their service, and though he could not gift them a horse as all the capital's horses had been conscripted by the military, he did gift them a donkey, which was Chedae.   During their journey, the Zenethian Children would grow fond of Chedae. They often noted she would change color seemingly at will.   In early 4A 996, when the Zenethian Heroes left Santeem, Chedae was missing. Joseppe recovered her near the Birdsong Tower.   In 4A 996, Leo discovered a lost shrine to Nerull, The Scythe-Bearer, in the underlevels of the city of Endor, the First Mountain. While here, Leo used his magics to converse with Nerull to ask questions related to the party's quests. Leo asked about Chedae, however Chedae was blocked from Nerull's sight, and he mentioned that the donkey had long eluded his realm as the God of Death.   Later that year, Chedae expelled the dark force of Esturk inside Rath, during the fighting in the Endor Tunnel.   On 2 Avedar 4A 996, the Zenethian Heroes battled against Esturk. Though they were eventually victorious, during the fighting, Zenthai, The Dragon King, was slain. When the Heroes emerged from the mines of Aktempto, Chedae approached them and was revealed to be the platinum-scaled Dragon daughter of Zenthai.   In late 4A 996, Chedae accompanied the Heroes to the lands of Branca, the Kingdom of the South, where the allied armies of Azimuth were gathering against Parthenia. Chedae participated in the Battle of the Bay of Shipwrecks.   On 31 Jeran 4A 997, Chedae travelled to Hometown with the Zenethian Heroes. She said her goodbyes to them and ascended to Zenethia, the Plane of Light, succeeding her father as the next Dragon Deity of Zenethia and starting the Fifth Age.

The Fifth Age: The Age of Beginnings

Campaign Two: Lightbringers

On Dragonrise 31 Jeran 5A 057, Gertrude Oathenhammer was brought by her father to see Chedae's Tear when she was five-years-old. Chedae granted her a vision and spoke to her.   On 2 Avedar 5A 351, Chedae's light was first felt blocked from the lands of Tarteria. Godsguard Ankhan, daughter of Audeh, felt this in Porgorag "like a wave from the south". This was caused by an unexpected interaction between the Great Leviathan's Severance Key and an elemental fount at Red Lake.   On 16 Adroth 5A 352, Gertrude attempted to pray to Chedae at the Chamber of Titles. However, Chedae's light could not reach her in the chamber.
