Keate

The town of Keate appears incredibly tiny upon first impressions until you learn 90% of the town is underground and off-limits to the general public. The Dragonborn are a very secretive people but there are traders, taverns, inns and farms on the surface for all to use, although these are almost always run by other races simply working for the Dragonborn. The town is surrounded by small wooden walls mostly to keep out roaming wildlife from the forest, only a few watchtowers serve as any protection around the perimeter.
The only Dragonborn seen commonly above ground are the guards who will help if you have any questions or problems in the town although they are quite indifferent to anything going on outside of the town or not directly affecting them. They are renown for their apparent rude attitude and lack of concern or compassion towards the lands beyond theirs. Many tribes of Dragonborn work and live together and the incredible mix of skin tones and draconic features are fascinating to behold.
A large hall sits just off the town center with two large gates that lead down into the town below which is guarded and defended at all times with it's own personal watch towers and ballistas. Naturally, this secrecy generates a lot of talk about what is going on below the surface and often brings some unwanted attention by the likes of thieves looking for a payday. What is known about the under town is that there are a lot of mining operations down there, vast amounts of materials are transported to the surface and equally large amounts of food and goods are taken below on a day to day basis.
