O'Pax

Atop cliffs, several hundred feet high lies the elven town of O'Pax. A large settlement fairly well defended by natural means as well as elf-made ones, the cliffs serve as natural protection to the north with various walls, towers and trenches to defend the south. Favouring bolt throwers, ballistas and other wooden contraptions that litter the southern borders, they borrow from human technology and use cannons for coastal deterrents.   The townsfolk consider themselves to be 'traditional' elves with religion a big part of their life and culture. Many of the elders take this to the extreme, disliking outsiders and those who choose not to follow the ways of old. While not directly hostile there is a sense of unbelonging about the place if you are not an elf of the 'traditional' ways, for this reason many outsiders choose not to stay long if at all here. Passing trade and tourism is a different story and welcomed to increase the cash flow of the town.   The one more noticeable structure of the town is the exceedingly large Runil Abbey at the most northern point and dangerously close to the cliff edges. Standing at least 200ft high and the grounds spanning several square miles it is an impressive sight to behold, it's shape etched into the horizon for miles around. The grounds are filled with ornate gardens, statues (some of enormous proportions), benches and walkways, rich with wildlife and natural fruit bearing trees.   The royal chambers are located close by to the abbey as well as a network of extravagant estates and manors. The more common and touristy parts of town are just a little further south with a beautifully crafted town square, like the abbey, overly decorated and detailed. A large market fills the center of the square with traders all around in all directions.   There are docks below the cliffs with a few walkways down there but they are hardly ever used with the strong currents of the northern sea.
