Fooks

On the southeastern border of Lake Pycon is the small yet bustling town of Fooks, home to the Eladrin, elves devoted entirely to the magical arts. The townspeople are well-practiced in magic, including the Caretakers who watch over the town. The caretakers are a group of powerful Eladrin in charge of keeping the peace throughout the town, rooting out trouble and removing any threats. Dressed in pure white robes from head to toe with a shimmering aura about them, there is no mistaking their presence. Hardly any visible defenses are in place, no walls, towers or artillery in sight. While there is a monarchy in place, a tradition among the elves, much of everything else usually accompanying it has been retired. There are no lavish royal buildings or districts, just a town hall to serve as royal quarters and a law office. The whole town is kept to a good standard of living with everyone being considered equal. Home to the renowned Fooks School of Magic, offering training to any who wish to learn to ways of arcana. Daily practice and study is a common sight throughout the town with many seminars and sessions held on the school grounds, around town or in the woodland. The magic school is host to Arcanus, the largest known selection of arcane texts, scrolls and magical books and as such draws interest from all over, although some more dangerous items are said to be stored in a restricted secure area. To the southwest of Fooks are several mines including the Yanyth Mines where the harvesting of precious gemstones take place. The mine tunnels extend far out beneath the lake and surrounding areas, running miles deep in places. Tours of these mines generate a lot of income for the town and pay for further digging operations beneath the surface. The miners reportedly use tools and methods borrowed from other races including the dwarves and gnomes.
