Item Categories

Items in NEXUS fit into one of several different categories, each with their own unique behaviors, uses, and values.  

Ammunition

The majority of Weapons require Ammunition to function. Ammo is available in Light, Medium, and Heavy varieties.  

Weapons

Weapons range from powerful firearms to close-combat Melee options. Guns come in various Classes with unique attributes, enabling players to engage enemies effectively at different ranges. Melee weapons offer diverse combat options as well.  

Armor

Armor provides essential protection for different body parts, enhancing a player's damage resistance against enemy attacks. Divided into several different components and classes, players can strategically equip different pieces to create a balanced and tailored defensive strategy.  

Batteries

Neutron Batteries are the energy source for Guardian Frames, dictating the duration a player can spend on in the field outside of Safe Zones. Effective time management becomes crucial as players must balance Battery power consumption with prolonged strategic action.  

Packs

Packs offer storage space for players to carry Loot. Properly managing Pack space and overall weight is essential for maximizing resource acquisition and tactical flexibility.  

Utility Tool

Utility Tools encompass a variety of non-weapon equipment such as flashlights, sensors, and scanners that offer distinct advantages during Exploration and Combat. Utility Tools become Bound once equipped. They can alternatively be sold to vendors or on The Black Market.  

Armbands

Armbands function primarily as cosmetic accessories that players can equip to personalize their characters. However, higher-tier armbands may offer additional benefits such as stat boosts or XP bonuses. Armbands become Bound once equipped. They can alternatively be sold to vendors or on The Black Market].

Crests

@[Crests
showcase affiliation to a specific Faction, modifying and improving Reputation gains. Crests are not lootable items or gear that require storage, but instead become unlocked for selection and use upon acquisition.  

Weapon Mods

Weapon Mods allow players to customize and enhance their weapons with various attachments, boosting their capabilities to better suit their playstyle.  

Armor Mods

Armor Mods offer players the ability to augment their armor with specialized improvements, reinforcing defense against specific Damage Types or adding unique Abilities.  

Components

Components are comprised of various metals, scraps, and tools required to build Mods and other crafting options.  

Augments

Augments are consumable enhancements that elevate player Skills, amplify weapon damage, fortify armor strength, accelerate ability regeneration, and offer a range of temporary boosts to various Attributes. They can be placed in Belts for quick use.  

Restoratives

Restoratives encompass a collection of Consumable medical provisions designed to heal HP, expedite Overshield recovery and restore SP. They can be placed in Belts for quick use.  

Power Sources

Power Sources are Consumables that are used to generate energy to recharge Batteries, rejuvenate Thrusters, and increase recovery speed of Abilities and Overdrives. They can be placed in Belts for quick use.  

Tactical Gear

Tactical Gear is an arsenal of Consumables strategic tools including grenades, mines, traps, smoke bombs, radar scramblers, portable barricades, barrier generators, decoys, and turrets. They can be placed in Belts for quick use.  

Resources

Resources are a diverse range of materials including flora, minerals, and ores that players can gather and use for trading or crafting various items and equipment.  

Research Schematics

Research Schematics provide players with valuable blueprints and crafting recipes to build advanced equipment and items, encouraging exploration and resource gathering. Research Schematics are unlocked by bringing them to a Foundry. They can alternatively be sold to vendors or on The Black Market.  

Research Report

Research Reports offer permanent stat increases or other improvements once players complete their specified prerequisites. These allow for gradual character advancement and specialization. Research Reports are unlocked by delivering them to an Annex. They can alternatively be sold to vendors or on The Black Market.  

Barter Items

Barter Items are used as a special type of currency for certain trades with NPC vendors, providing an alternative means of acquiring valuable items and equipment.  

Valuables

Valuables are items of high monetary worth, making them desirable for selling or trading for Astrals and Carbon Shards.  

Collectables

Collectables are unique items designed for NEXUS streamers, content creators, and valued members of the community. They are often valuable items for selling to traders and occasionally act as Quest-related items.  

Data Entries

Data Entries are hidden Lore items scattered throughout the system, providing players with captivating narratives and insights into the universe of NEXUS. Data Entries are not items that require storage and are instead unlocked upon acquisition.  

Special Equipment

Special Equipment are items with unlimited usage, such as Homing Signals or Extraction Requests. Special Equipment are not items that require storage and are instead unlocked upon acquisition, accessible from the Action Grid.  

Currency

Currency encompasses various forms of in-game money that players use for transactions, purchases, and Trading. This includes Astrals, Carbon Shards, Palladium, and Oaths. Currencies are not items that require storage and are instead moved into the total Currency amount upon acquisition.  

Cosmetics

Cosmetics are a variety of visual customizations, including emblems, banners, skins, emotes, and more. These enable players to personalize their characters, menus, and displays for both themselves and other players. Cosmetics are not items that require storage and are instead unlocked upon acquisition. Cosmetics are unlocked by visiting an Atrium or through The Emporium. They can alternatively be sold to vendors or on The Black Market.  

Containers

Containers are items that once acquired can open and expand a player's Inventory and Armory capacity, ensuring more room for collected Loot and equipment. Containers are especially useful when carried in Secure Slots as they expand storage space, however they can become quite heavy and reduce movement performance such as Thruster regeneration.  

Quest Items

Quest Items are essential objects acquired during Missions and Quests to progress questlines. These items cannot be sold or traded, and are automatically Bound to the player upon acquisition. They are immediatley lost and Despawn upon Death or failed Extraction.  

Access Cards

Access Cards serve as limited-use keys that grant players entry into locked doors and restricted areas, enabling exploration and uncovering hidden locations with valuable loot. Access Cards become Bound the first time they are used.
