Lepontines

The vast interior of the land between the Zygo Sea and the Odontus is wild, untamed land and claimed by the many peoples that dwell under the bannr of the Lepontines. A melting pot of elven and human nomadic peoples, the Lepontines entered the interior more than 1,000 years ago and went on to contest against the Barbranid Empire, the Sarpadian Empire and all others who sought to exploit the interior.

The vast territory of the Lepontine consists of loosely connected tribal units that represented a dominant military force but were never politically united by a strong central power. They never established a state, instead forming a Lepontine confederation. According to the many Sarpadian and Barbranid chroniclee "they have no king or queen, only princes, princesses and royal families". Lepontines were very active in commerce & trade, and diplomacy with the other peoples abutting their territory including traditional enemies Arad Hobgoblins and the Ojasi. The Lepontines submitted to the Helegu Khaganate swiftly, and were able to negotiate a peace that gave them a degree of autonomy all other conquered nations never achieved under Helegu domination, however they remain vassals of the Silver Host.
