    An expedition, led by the scholar Stephano di Cario di Bregzana sets off from Cameri to excavate the recently-discovered ruins of Kab Melekh, the so-called "Tomb of the Unknown King".   Among those hired are Aurelia, a Shifter exiled from Vaalus; Echoed Murmur, a Kenku herbalist; Eibhleann Trueshot, an elven historian and ranger from Lith Terrin; Nikol, a goblin with friends in low places; and Teagan Sweetsong, a half-elven Alderni bard on the run from the law.

    The party encounter a group of bandits, deserters from an Alderni army led by one Adeline Schwaren-Erastes, who have been living in the woodlands for several years. After a short fight, they capture Adelina, eventually agreeing to release her on the condition that she and her followers leave the area. Adelina tells them that she intends to head for the mountains to the East, and then perhaps to Viraky or Balthas.

    The party successfully enter Kab Melekh through an adjoining cave, and encounter several dangers within.

    The Hunter and the Fox
    Criminal Activity

    The party encounter Edgar Kruger-Ysern, his guards, and the mercenary Clarity Merelsdochter, attempting to apprehend Isobela di Peron di Cameri, Alana Catarinsdochter and Oneira Athelsdottir, three werefoxes(species:aee5d15f-565f-4b84-977e-1fe782bf9c0e) who are alleged fugitives from @[Aldernord, in an attempt to recover the stolen Ring of Zaal. A fight breaks out and Edgar Kruger-Ysern is killed.   In gratitude for their rescue, and knowing that should they keep ahold of the ring that the Alderni would continue hunting them, the werefoxes give the Ring of Zaal to the party. They are thought to have headed to Cameri, with the intention of seeking refuge in Lith Terrin.

    The Incognito Princess

    The party find the supply wagons of the Alderni expedition, and hiding nearby a tiefling calling herself Beatitude. It emerges that Beatitude is none other than Princess Beatrix Bheuren van Crassen, granddaughter of Queen Queen Margaretha of Aldernord, who had been given leadership of the expedition in the hope she would prove herself worthy of being appointed Queensknife, or else die in the attempt. She is persuaded to join the party, disguising herself as an elf.

    Tzatu'yshan, the shape-shifting entity called the Grey Death by the goblins of Zhenzh, gains access to the astral mirror of Kab Melekh, having murdered and replaced Lorelei Volkenglass, a magician working with the Savuran expedition. They manage to activate the astral mirror and begin opening the Invisible Path to Tchokayahattak - but are prevented from from completely achieving their goal by the intervention of other members of the expedition. Nonetheless, the wardstorm surrounding Tchokayahattak begins to falter...

    The activation of the astral mirror at Kab Melekh triggers an earthquake in Cameri, opening up a sinkhole which reveals an entrance to the lost city of Vash Ossai below.

    The survivors of the expedition to Kab Melekh exit the tomb and are confronted by the goblins of Zhenzh, who blame them for everything that has transpired. By the intervention of some unknown power, history branches in two: in the original timeline Hassoreliath the Red, one of the Five Great Dragons of Mandragore, arrives and engulfs the survivors in a great inferno; in that which changes, it is the copper dragon Dendrithekimallion who is first to arrive, driving off the goblins and allowing the survivors to leave.

    Dendri's Tale

    The party meet with Dendrithekimallion, who tells them a tale of the Paragons of Azoth, the Oathsworn Circle, and the Oath of the Long Watch. She explains that Tchokayahattak was destroyed by an ancient weapon which caused the Desolation, and that the ruins of the city are warded to prevent the weapon from ever being rediscovered, and explains that Kab Melekh was the node by which the wards were controlled. The party agree to help her investigate the nature of the wards and the way that they are powered by the necromantic engines of the lost city of Vash Ossai, whilst Dendri searches for Elia of Tchokayahattak, the last surviving member of the Oathsworn Circle, and the only one who knew the location of Kab Melekh.

    A Meeting with the Monitor

    The party return to Cameri and meet with Helga di Koperslager di Cameri, a merchant and member of the Chamber Extraordinary, the Savuran secret police force who sponsored Stephano's expedition to Kab Melekh.

    Descent into Ossai
    Expedition

    The party enter Vash Ossai with the aid of the Rattenvanger crime syndicate of Cameri. There they discover the Anima, the godlike intelligence formed of countless souls harvested by the necromantic engines over the centuries of their operation, and are attacked by the fanatical cultists of the Carmine Pillar, who seek to enter the ruins for their own purposes. They venture deeper with the help of the drow agent Zyltheas, who has been hired along with another party of adventurers to retrieve the vessel of the Anima for Zephon Runebrand, emissary of Tzim Tevash. In the depths they find a neverending war between the undead army of the lich Ambrosius, and the necromantic soldiers of Vash Ossai, all perpetually reanimating as the necromantic miasma continues to leak into the city. They enter the royal palace, and eventually free the deathless magician Azishemu, who has been trapped in the ruins for almost two millenia - though in doing so, they inadvertantly weaken the wardstorm protecting Tchokayahattak.

    The Vault of Zaal
    Criminal Activity

    With the assistance of Beatrix, the party break into the Ducal Palace of Cameri in order to rob the hidden vault belonging to the now-deposed House Zaal that lies beneath it. They enter the vault, and in the process of stealing its contents encounter Ser Ingrid Absthoven-Zaal, a knight who has been magically sequestered within the vault in order to guard one item among its contents - the Reliquary of the Sun Reborn. A fight breaks out, during which the wards on the reliquary are disrupted, releasing its contents - the tormented shade of an ancient Kenku known as Stone Skittering Down the Mountain, into which is bound a fragment of the soul of the Paragon known as the Hunter.

    The party meet with Zephon Runebrand, and secure his support for any further attempts to enter Vash Ossai.

    An Ambush at the Crossroads

    The party lure the Carmine Pillar into ambushing them outside of the city of Cameri; they swiftly dispatch the cultists and the shadow demon that they have summoned, but fail to prevent the cult's leader - none other than Nicodemo di Scrivano di Cameri - from escaping. They encounter the enigmatic shapeshifter Tdjaia'ucchan, who was attempting to infiltrate the Pillar and assassinate their leader.

    The party meet with Anastasia di Gratiano and Tdjaia'ucchan. Tdjaia recounts a rather different version of the story of the rise of the Paragons of Azoth, but the discussion is interrupted by the arrival of Luca Rattenvanger, who warns the assembled guests that the militia is going to raid the estate. She tells the party that Nicodemo di Scrivano di Cameri has claimed that the party attempted to assassinate him, and that they are members of the Carmine Pillar; she also says that the militia have had a tip-off claiming that Anastasia is the secretly the leader of the Carmine Pillar. The militia storm the Gratiano estate, but the party manage to escape with Luca and the Gratiano children. It becomes apparent that Anastasia is a Vampire.

    The party return to the Hissing Crane inn, and retrieve their belongings and the items that they stole from the vault of House Zaal. They encounter Morwen di Orphane di Lapizula, a magician from the Collegium Transmutione and her bodyguards, who attempt to talk them into surrendering; violence breaks out and the party go on the run from the militia.

    With the aid of the Rattenvanger Crime Family, the party escape Cameri and travel to Paracannia, where they intend to meet with Beatrix, Ingrid, and Azishemu.

    Dark Bargains

    The party encounter three hags, who offer a number of boons in exchange for certain certain metaphysical or ephemeral prices. They reveal that there are nine who having survived the events that were fated to kill them, are now unbound from the Web of Fate: Aurelia, Echoed Murmur, Eibhleann, Nikol, Teagan; and also Beatrix, Hasdrubal, Lucrezia... and Tzatu'yshan   Nikol enters into a deal with the hags, trading "all benefit they have gained from their sacrifices to the Mother of Murder" in exchange for information that they do not yet know they need. In return they are told that in order to use the Throne of Stars they will need one who is capable of using it; the hags identify one such individual as being named Motion an agent of the Gilded Tower, who is the reincarnation of an oath-bound agent of the Paragons. They explain that Motion is fated "to lose all hope and be devoured by the Utterdark"; they offer to trade the information of how to avert this fate, but the party decline.

    Dream of the Swarm

    Nikol receives a message in their dreams from Empress Vluk of the Wasps of Kiskaviskir, who imparts cryptic information about the White Grove and the history of the Goblin people. Vluk also reveals that the Omen Seekers are closing in on the location of the Throne of Stars, and that when the path to Tchokayahattak reopens, they must be ready to march on the ruined city.

    The Herald of Mycopotheosis

    The party descend into mines near the town of Paracannia in order to help rescue some trapped miners. There they come across Nerazh Zdravka, a goblin druid who has psychically melded with the Myconids dwelling in caves below the mines, and intends to reverse the Shattering by bringing all goblinkind into psychic communion with the fungus. They destroy Zdravka before she can do any further harm, and encounter the ancient myconid sovereign One Outside All, who they win the support of after warning them that the Great Gates have been unsealed.

    Murder of Claudin Alkyonides-Ysern
    Criminal Activity

    Claudin Alkyonides-Ysern, Vice-Scholarch of the Faculty Umbral of the Academy of Gildenschloss, is murdered by unknown forces. It is later established that he was killed by a Hound of Ill Omen manifested by Motion Ashbrook-Sarren, one of his students, after he had attempted to invade her dreams and erase her memory in order to pass off her research as his own; further investigations implicated Sanctity Falcoferri-Riddacci and the Everstorm Covenant as being ultimately responsible for his death.

    Guillaume's Ambush

    Guillaume Arthmael-Riddacci ambushes Princess Beatrix Bheuren of Aldernord when she and her companions return from Paracannia via a secret teleportation circle beneath the ruined keep of Avenfort. When the princess' companions turn out to be rather more dangerous than anticipated, Guillaume attempts to escape, but is slain by a shadowy wolf-like creature, which is later established to be a Hound of Ill Omen manifested by the sorcerer Motion Ashbrook-Sarren.

    Osrand Apprehended

    The party identify Osrand Maelgribh-Ysern as a member of the Everstorm Covenant, and are successful in apprehending him before he can escape. His memories, stored in physical form in an aetheric chest, shed light on the Everstorm Covenant and their role in the death of Claudin Alkyonides-Ysern.

    Sanctity's Downfall

    The party discover Sanctity Falcoferri-Riddacci's involvement with the Everstorm Covenant. When they confront him, on this, he opens a portal to the sanctum he has created in his own dreamscape using an enchanted mirror, and summons a flock of Mephits to rampage through the Academy of Gildenschloss. It is later established that one of his goals in doing so is to kill one of the students - Galiana "Guidance" Votellian, who has a technical claim on the throne of Aldernord; and possibly also to attack Dorothea "Doctrine" Canthor, the daughter of the imprisoned necromancer Eupraxia Canthor, in order to intimidate Eupraxia into silence.   Sanctity appeared to have been cut down by the party during the fight that ensued, though it later emerged that they had only destroyed a simulacrum; Sanctity himself was inside the dream-sanctum, and is believed to be trapped there after the mirror was destroyed.

    Fall of Everstorm

    The party confront Zenith Giannis-Canthor and Creed Ulvensson, the two surviving leaders of the Everstorm Covenant in Gildenschloss, as they attempt to recover the book entitled "On the Line of the Nine Daughters" from a long-abandoned basement archive beneath the Gilded Tower. Creed is killed in the ensuing fight, and Zenith, gravely injured, sunders his staff in an attempt to unleash the wrath of Qi'eka'a upon the party, whose souls are suddenly drawn into the Elemental Apex of Air in the presence of Qi'eka'a.   When Zenith appeals for Qi'eka'a to intervene, and refuses to accept the consequences of his own shortcomings, Qi'eka'a strikes him down and transforms him into an air elemental. Qi'eka'a permits the party to converse with him, expressing disappointment in the Everstorm Covenant, and general indifference to their ideological goals, before releasing them to return to their bodies on the material plane.

    Assassination of Galiana Votellian Foiled
    Criminal Activity

    The party leads a sting operation to uncover an assassin who was working with the Everstorm Covenant, and was planning on killing Galiana "Guidance" Votellian. The assassin is unmasked as Heinrich Sturmkind-Canthor, a former mercenary soldier in the Wolves of Kruger, who was now working as a tutor for the Hall of Apprentices at the Academy of Gildenschloss. Following his capture, it was determined that Heinrich was acting on the orders of Baron Ortolf Kruger-Ysern.

    Yarabog and the Tomb

    The party search for a missing Lightfoot trade caravan in Sternespass, and discover that the halflings have been taken prisoner by a band of bugbears led by one named Yarabog, who are encamped in a cave that leads onto a Tevashi tomb complex - the Tomb of the Five Physicians - which dates to the time of the Faceless Kings. Yarabog does not suffer from the usual psychic contagion that bugbears are prone to, supposedly as a result of contact with something within the tomb, which he and a party of adventurers including Emrys na Heilyn looted in 1334AK.

    The party enter into the dreamscape of Motion Ashbrook-Sarren in an attempt to reverse the mental conditioning that was placed upon her by Gudrun Athelswicht-Zaal and Sanctity Falcoferri-Riddacci to constrict her power in the wake of the Night of the Wolf, and which had since been subverted by Sanctity in order to use her Hound of Ill Omen, Telarna, as a weapon of assassination.   In Motion's dreamscape they encounter numerous entities, including Tulia Seconda Akropos, one of Motion's past lives who was partially responsible for the Fall of the Katari Empire; the enigmatic cat Na-Menes; the Duck of Many Dreams; Xorbuqesh, an oracular toad-spirit; Ki'lar'akh, a Vylok chain demon; and a memory of the Kraken Queen. They are eventually able to unlock Motion's psyche and subdue the "Dark Half" - the part of her mind which had fallen to the Utterdark and which would have destroyed her completely - freeing Motion from the Web of Fate and preventing her doom from coming to pass.

    Whilst travelling to Witharen with Beatrix and Motion, the party encounter a magical blizzard that has been created by Eikos Bheur and her cult, the Coldblooded Murder. Eikos grants Nikol the blessing of the Hag Queen, allowing them to scry the fate of any being that they have met.

    The party gain entrance to a hidden basement in the Gilded Tower whilst looking for a prototype magical carriage, and encounter a colony of Cranium Rats which seem to have been inadvertantly created by the experiments of the Empty Gyre with a psychicly active otherworldly crystal. They bargain with the Parliament of Rats for use of the carriage, and bring about a religious reformation that unites several disperate sects of rats.

    Ferrante Riddacci, Apertor of Akandra, attempts to sabotage the Ceremony of the First Flame, one of the rituals to bless the forthcoming marriage of Zeraphina Mettvergen and Pandion Erastes, in order to prolongue his own life. The party thwart his attempts, and uncover the fact that he has been conspiring with Ortolf Kruger-Ysern.   With Ferrante removed from the ceremony, his granddaughter Ilaria Riddacci conducts the ceremony, and briefly becomes a vessel for the goddess Akandra, who warns the party of Ortolf's plans.

    Marriage of Zeraphina and Pandion

    At the castle of Witharen, Zeraphina Mettvergen, daughter of Duchess Lisebet Mettvergen van Zallen, is married to Pandion Erastes, younger brother of Duchess Theodike Erastes van Zudemoeras.   During the celebrations, Ortolf Kruger-Ysern attempts to set in motion a plan to destabilise the High Houses of Aldernord and a band of thieves attempt to steal a diamond known as the Eye of Clethtinthialor. Both plots are foiled by a party of adventurers working for the Queensknife.

    Theodorus Canthor, a vampire conspiring with the necromancers of Deep Haunt, is killed by the party in Valkenholt, and his accomplices apprehended.

    The party reach the nest of the Etterqueen in Bos Kala, and destroy it, ending the threat of the ettercaps in the forest and allowing contact to be made with the Prophet of Silk and Stone.

    At the urging of the phoenix Sha'tzat Alutos, the party enter the ruins of the Iatromantion Kalaon near Lith Kala and purify the corrupted place of healing. They put the shades of Macdara Wayfinder and Claudia Septima Montani to rest, and slay the Bodak that was once Gnaeus Tertius Claro.

    Elnaril Galvan, the Willowbound King, is freed from his prison in the Shattered Forest, only to be destroyed by a party of adventurers with the aid of the dragon Morkatherit.

    The ancient dragon Morkatherit speaks with the party following the death of Elnaril Galvan, in which he gave an account of the end of the War of Binding and the founding of the Oath of the Long Watch which differed somewhat from that of Dendrithekimallion.

    Sylvan Nexus Restored

    The party, with the aid of Caitlin Ritualworker - now revealed to be an Eladrin - restore the Sylvan Nexus of Lith Kala by accessing the Mystic Pylon at the heart of the Everbleeding Shrine. In the process, they kill the demon Shenemahu i-Eru that has inhabited the pylon for centuries, binding its essence into the spell to weave the nexus anew.

    Vluk, the Swarmkeeper contacts Kiskaviskir Nikol after they invoke the Right of Conquest to bind the Eladrin known as Gylxana. They order Nikol to return to the Vale of Chesk as soon as possible.

    Fall of the House of Amratosh

    The party teleport to Rostog, and launch a decapitation strike against the necromancers of the House of Amratosh. They are successful at killing Isentrud Nardwinsdottir and recovering the Trumpet of Ixos, and also rescue Lutger Erinsson - a surgeon and agent of the Lich Ambrosius. Later the party raids the Foundry Tower and is able to destroy the bone altar that had been concealed there.

    The party enter the hidden tomb of the Lich Ambrosius via a Runegate in the Tower of Bulls. They are able to penetrate the tomb's defences and recover the Bronze Mask, whilst learning more about Ambrosius and finding evidence of the involvement of Ilse Sarren van Malaborg. They encounter the ghost of Vedanthe, Ambrosius' daughter, whom Teagan permits to share her body in a form of stable possession.

    Echoed Murmur, bearer of the fragment of the soul of the Hunter that had been held by Stone Skittering Down the Mountain, is killed in Rostog by Key Turns in the Lock. Key, now in possession of a full half of the Hunter's Shadow, escapes to his distant stronghold of Luetlo U'xilute
