Eyma Shaeras

Eyma Shaeras, the hidden city of the wood elves, lies deep within the ancient Winterglen Forest on the Isle of Baeddon. The forest itself, with towering trees that stretch endlessly toward the sky, is a place of timeless beauty and untamed wilds. Though Winterglen technically lies within the borders of the Kingdom of Down, the elves of Eyma Shaeras claim that the forest is sovereign to no kingdom, standing as a realm apart from human rule. They refuse to recognize the authority of the Kingdom of Down, which often leads to strained, albeit peaceful, relations with its capital, Caer Allegain to the west.   Eyma Shaeras is ruled by The First Mother Soliania, a wise and ageless Wood Elf leader revered for her deep connection to the forest and its spirits. She governs the city with a soft yet firm hand, ensuring that the ancient balance between nature and civilization is preserved. The city itself is built seamlessly into the forest, with homes and structures formed from the living trees and shaped wood, blending harmoniously with the natural world. Suspended bridges of woven vines and luminescent moss connect the treetop homes, while graceful paths wind through the forest floor, lit by natural, glowing orbs that pulse gently in time with the rhythms of the forest.   In the heart of the city lies the mystical Moonwell, a sacred pool of crystalline water that serves as a gateway between the mortal realm and The Feywild. The water is said to shimmer with otherworldly light, especially under the moon, and acts as a focal point for the magic of the forest. The elves of Eyma Shaeras gather at the Moonwell for ceremonies, offerings, and rituals that strengthen their bond to the Fey and the natural world.   Eyma Shaeras is also home to the high priest of Caena, The Mother of Plagues, Valamin Solandra, whose reverence for the goddess of disease, poison, and illness gives him an often misunderstood role within the city. Though his devotion may seem dark to outsiders, he teaches the elves that illness and decay are part of nature’s cycle, as much as growth and life. His presence ensures that the people of Eyma Shaeras maintain a deep respect for the delicate balance of life and death in the natural world.   The city’s location places it near several important landmarks. To the southwest is Myrloch Vale, a place steeped in fey magic, and to the east lies the Daoine town of Timberswade. The towering Gallymoore Mountains lie to the southeast, while to the south, the enchanted lake Myrloch glistens in the distance.   While the wood elves maintain their independence and detachment from the politics of the human realms, their presence in the Winterglen Forest ensures that no one dares lay claim to the land without considering the watchful eyes of the elves and their fey allies. Eyma Shaeras stands as a place where the ancient magic of the world still thrives, a sanctuary for the wood elves and those they deem worthy to walk among them.
