Scarlet Hills

The Scarlet Hills in the Kingdom of Kildare are a striking and distinctive landscape, named for the deep red clay that runs through their soil, giving the hills an almost otherworldly appearance, especially at sunrise and sunset when the light enhances the vibrant hues. These rolling hills are rich in natural resources, particularly the valuable clay that has made the region a center for pottery and brick-making.   The town of Sisterfall, nestled within the Scarlet Hills, thrives on the export of this clay. It is a bustling center of craftsmanship, where skilled potters and masons produce fine ceramics, tiles, and bricks, renowned throughout the Kingdom of Kildare. Sisterfall itself is a modest town, but its wealth comes from the constant trade of the clay, which is transported to nearby towns and cities. The red clay is not only valued for its strength and malleability but also for its rumored connection to ancient magic, as some believe that items crafted from the clay hold minor enchantments.   The trade route through the Scarlet Hills was once watched over by the Old Black Wolf of the Hills, a wolf that would dutifully follow caravans as they crossed at a distance. Slain by kobolds, the Old Black Wolf of the Hills became a ghost that patroled the route until a group released the spirit by rescuing her pups that were taken by the kobolds.   To the east of the Scarlet Hills lies the town of Eastbridge, ruled by the noble Greyhall family, who oversee the trade routes and maintain political control over the eastern part of the hills. Eastbridge is a strategic location, sitting on the river that provides a natural crossing point, allowing goods to flow easily between Sisterfall and the rest of the kingdom.   To the north of the hills is the enchanted lake known as Myrloch, a large, fey-touched body of water that shimmers with an unnatural glow at night. Myrloch is known for its strong connection to The Feywild, with many travelers reporting strange sights and encounters near its shores. It is said that fey creatures guard the lake, and those who venture too close may find themselves whisked away into the Feywild or caught in dangerous fey bargains.
