Teapeak Mountains

The Teapeak Mountains stretch across the Isle of Baeddon, forming a formidable natural barrier between the Kingdom of Louth and the Kingdom of Kildare. These mountains are steep and rugged, their jagged peaks often shrouded in mist, making them treacherous to navigate for those unfamiliar with their paths. The region is rich with both natural beauty and dark history, as it was once home to a thriving dwarven civilization. Running beneath the mountain range is the Old Dwarven Highway, a long-forgotten road that once connected the kingdoms to both ends of the range. This highway is now mostly abandoned and crumbling in places, though it still serves as a route for travelers and those who wish to avoid the perilous journey over the mountains.   At the heart of the Teapeak Mountains lie the Ruins of Bol Kahldur, a once-great dwarven citadel that was destroyed in a catastrophic event long ago. The remains of the fortress still stand as a haunting reminder of the fall of the dwarven kingdom that once ruled these mountains. The citadel’s great halls are now silent, and its forges cold, but the bones of its past glory remain in the massive stone walls and intricately carved statues that dot the ruins. Adventurers and treasure hunters occasionally brave the dangerous journey to Bol Kahldur, seeking relics of the past, though few return, as the ruins are said to be cursed or guarded by dark forces.   Beneath the Teapeak Mountains, in the deep caverns and tunnels, the Duergar have made their home. These dark dwarves are known for their cunning nature. They have taken over many of the abandoned dwarven tunnels, repurposing them for their own use and expanding deep beneath the earth. The presence of the Duergar has made the mountains even more dangerous, as they guard their subterranean domains fiercely and have little tolerance for outsiders. Encounters with the Duergar are often fatal, as they are known for their ruthless ambush tactics and their ability to manipulate darkness and illusion to their advantage.   The Teapeak Mountains, with their rich history and hidden dangers, serve as both a geographical and political divide between the Kingdoms of Louth and Kildare. While they are a place of breathtaking beauty, they are also filled with ancient threats, from the ruins of Bol Kahldur to the dark halls of the Duergar below.
