Jonitan Aqueduct

A long white colonnade rises in the background, taller than many buildings. The arches are very sturdy, being so large that ten people holding hands might not be able to encircle the columns. Stretching from horizon to horizon, it carries water from the Rómil River south to Gratic City.

Architecture

The structure is built of fine Schintian Granite, known for its strength. Using a series of arches, it stretches some 90 kilometres from the river Rómil, through the town of Freebrook, and all the way down to Gratic City. There, it is funnelled underground and into the various wells, fountains, and bathhouses of the city.

History

When the Ither River dried up in 174 II, Emperor Jonitan II, the father of the current Emperor, had this aqueduct constructed so that the people of Gratic City would not have to have water brought in by cart. The aqueduct is now named in his honour. The project strained the resources of the Gratican Magistrates who were forced to fit the bill for it, leading to some frustration.
