Ring Road

"One has never seen a road until they have seen the beauty of the Ring Road of Gratic City. This flat construction is the inner circle to the walls' outer circle, and it goes the whole length and breadth of the city. The road is so flat that a cart can roll down it without a single bump. Shops line this street for the entirety of its length, and one can find any manner of wondrous things inside."   ~ The City of Cities

Purpose / Function

The Ring Road connects the major plazas and buildings of the city, and it is the main thoroughfare for the city. It is prime real estate for the city, and the shops that go along its length are the more higher-end shops of that district.

Architecture

The road is made of local stone and concrete, and has been smoothed by the centuries. So smooth that "smooth as the Ring" is a common saying for something extremely smooth.   It goes from Teris Market eastward, going all the way to Ither Market. It then makes a wide arc, getting very near the wall in Southwark district before it gets to South Market. After that, it heads in a nearly straight path north to Temple Square and The University before curving and returning to Teris Market. The whole shape isn't completely circular, with the Teris district portion in particular being a little winding.

History

The Ring Road was built during the reign of Caldia I , who is also responsible for the construction of Caldia Park. She was immensely focused on infrastructure and the improvement of the city, and the perfection and smoothness of the road is a hallmark of that passion.
