Gratic City Temple of Etheric
"A glorious cathedral of unparalleled size and construction, the Great Temple of Etheric is easily the largest temple in the Empire in terms of height. It is said that the great spire travels some 30 handspans into the air, bridging the gap between the mortal world and the Four. The whole building is of white marble that glistens in sunlight and shines in moonlight, and is a true showing of the devotion of the people to their religion." ~ The City of Cities
Purpose / Function
This building is the most important temple in the entirety of the Imperial Temple religion, and it shows in its construction. Services are held here every other day by the High Priest of the Imperial Temple; these services attract some 1500 people from across the city. Most of these people are richer merchants and dignitaries who take the time after services to chat and discuss politics.
Architecture
The building is made of Plainér Marble and rises some hundred feet into the air. Its surface is mostly spherical, with the large central dome dominating the structure. Coming out of the dome is a central tower that is crowned by an iron spire, itself ten feet tall. This tower is square and tapers towards the top, and the inside of the tower contains a large brass bell used to summon worshippers.
Inside, the structure is decorated with religious icons to the point of being cliché. Statues peer down over the hundred or so wooden pews and benches, and the floor is a made of the same marble shined to the point of glimmering. The altar is covered with a large red cloth and the ceremonial fire pit is large enough for ten people to lie down in.
History
Such a building has a long and storied history, much too long to go into here. Various religious edicts and messages have taken place over the three and a half centuries of its use. Of particular note is the trial and execution of The Dragon Heresy at the close of the Red Rose War, an event that may be repeated in the near future.
