Walkhar's Mystical Wonders
"For those who have interest in magical items or are genuinely interested in the mystical arts, I cannot recommend [Walkhar's Mystical Wonders] enough. The owner is a very chatty and amicable sort, and his clients know him to have high-quality items at reasonable prices. The amount of stock is dizzying enough that there is the question whether he enchants them himself or gets them from somewhere else." ~ The City of Cities
Purpose / Function
Walkhar sells a wide variety of items from his store, focusing mostly on enchanted items and potions. The store is commonly well-stocked with all manner of healing potions, protective rings, and magic swords, as well as alchemical supplies and magical chalk for rituals and texts on magic and other magical worlds.
Alterations
The building was originally a tavern until Walkhar purchased it some thirty years ago, and because of that has large open spaces now filled with shelves.
Architecture
The store is split into two levels, with the lower level being the shop proper and the second floor being Walkhar's workshop and his living quarters. The shop is dominated by large shelves that stretch from floor to ceiling and are full of magical trinkets and arcane texts. One whole side wall is dedicated to potions and potion-making and it is filled with exotic plants and jars of animal parts. Near the door is the desk where Walkhar himself sits and chats with his customers, although the money he gets from this and the ledgers of items in his possession are kept at the far end of the store.
History
Back when he first bought the building that would become Walkhar's Mystical Wonders, his was one of several small magical item stores in the city. Due to the crackdown on stores of magical items by the College of Mages in recent years, he is now the only such store worth mentioning. This keeps him very busy.
