Saving Sandpoint. Again.

We went back to Sandpoint to as we could, hoping we could get there before the invasion began. As soon as we arrived we were greeted as famous heroes, which was nice, but we did not have time for that as we had to do what we could to prepare to defend against the invasion. Most of my contribution to the preparations was to get as much done in my alchemy lab as I could. We knew that we were going to fight a dragon, but nothing about its capabilities.
 
The first part of the invasion that we took part in had a group of stone giants. Vicky killed one with an arrow to its ugly face, and I managed to cook the rest of them with a large fireball. We did not have long to cheer as there was trouble at a bridge.
 
At the bridge were several stone giants with humongous dire bears. Iarra cut three of the bears down to size, slaughtering them with her swords after she rushed up to meet them ahead of our battle line. It was a dicey move, but she was the only one dicing anything.
 
A large boulder from a giant smacked into Vicky, dropping her to the ground. Meyos healed her completely, and she got back up, as if nothing had happened, and shot a bear with an arrow, killing it, and the arrow continued to a second bear, killing it, and then ended up in a third bear, wounding it.
 
I followed up with a massive fireball against them, killing some and wounding others. I must admit that I felt useless alongside the two ladies and the results of their battle skill. As I was thinking this, and that I did at least have some kills, these two were on fire more than my fireballs, Vicky killed a bear with an arrow, and then hid. Minion activated his shield, expecting to meet serious opposition, and moved forward as I smited our weapons with lightning. I figured that would be more useful overall than tossing another fireball.
 
And, as usual, I was right. Iarra killed the last bear, and then killed two giants, with her swords as she danced gracefully across the battlefield to the two remaining giants and killed them. She is going to need a serious bath after this day is over.
