We left Fort Rannick to find the remains of Lamatar Bayden. As we traveled we met Meyos, a sylph cleric of Sarenrae. He joined our party of adventurers after we promised him that we would do heroic acts that would save and redeem lives. Vicky recognized him as being the chef at her favorite restaurant in Magnimar. Billy also knew him from Magnimar. According to them, he was a better chef than Jordan Ramses.
As we got near the swamps known as the Shimmerglens, we heard someone crying. It was a pixie named Yap. And yap he did .He never seemed to shut up. It was annoying. Still, I felt sympathy for him and it turned out that he served the nymph, Mariana, who was the love interest to Lamatar. Someone, or something, had placed a terrible curse on her. I guessed that it was probably whoever sent the ogres to Fort Rannick in the first place, and it probably also has something to do with the lamia that we have encountered. They are part of some larger plot. Maybe we should talk to one instead of killing it next time? Or at least, talk to it first...
Yap lead us through some swamp. Billy Crow, Johana Scalebastian Bach, and Meyo flew, and Minion carried me and Vicky as he walked upon the water. For some reason, some Boggards attacked us. Vicky's arrow shot one in the eye, and the arrow passed through, killing the one behind it. Meyo fried two with lightning, and (as usual) Johanna burned most of them to a crisp. A few escaped her wrath and I fried them with lightning. Meyo cooked up some Boggard for us. I was surprised to find it tasty.
We were lead into an area of evil, ghostly trees, and one of them bled. Everything is dead in this area and we saw a bunch of weird, twisted, evil hallucinations. It was very distracting and I kept expecting something to attack us.
We came upon a derelict sea-going vessel was in the swamp. How did it get here? Where did it come from? We found the dead captain, One Eyed Willey, a human from some other world. Billy played the sheet music found near the fancy harpsichord in the ship. It was great. Minion put the harpsichord in his dimension so we could use it later. I wonder where he puts everything we give him to put there. I know that it continues to exist, as he has retrieved things that I have given him to store for me in the past.
Yap took us to Mariana, or what was left of her. She wants us to find Lamatar, which is convenient as we were already going to do that before Yap pulled us to see her. I confirmed her claims by casting a spell to locate Lamatar and then scried his location, showing her and the the rest of us that he is a frost wight near a shrine of Lamashtu at the top of the Hook Mountain. We promised to return Lamater's remains to Mariana.
After we got to the road near Whitewillow, we were called to help the people in Turtleback Ferry as it had serious, immediate flooding. Being the great heroes we are, we went to see what we could do.
After we saved some children and their teacher in a boat that was stuck near some big, mean, snakes, a huge creature emerged from the water. The Black Magga. It roared as it neared the church of Eristil. I recalled that the Black Magga, a famous legendary beast, is an evil Outsider that has some weird dimensional powers. Most notably, it is a Bad Idea to teleport in the area. Supposedly, its tentacles can phase.
Scalebastian answered its roar with fire from above. The Black Magga ignored her and spewed a dark cloud that engulfed the area in a dark, poisoning cloud. Fortunately for me and Minion, we were immune. Unfortunately for the others, they were not.
Vicky shot it in the eye and it screeched in fury. I smited her bow, and that of Stormshadow. Immediately after that, I shot the Black Magga with a withering bolt in its eye, and Minion shot it with a flaming Bolt in an eye. Stormshadow shot it with a smited arrow. And finally, Vicky hit it with her smited arrow, dropping the Black Magga as it sunk into the water and we could not find its body afterwards.
After the crowd cheered the mayor asked us to please fix the dam. I guess this is an immediate concern and Lamatar is already dead anyway, so we might as well take care of this dam first.
