As we planned the assault of the rangers' fort, I asked for permission to read their minds and then shared what I saw of the fort with the others as an illusion. This gave us all a basic familiarity of our target location, and would help me to teleport around as needed.
We decided to sneak into the cave behind the waterfall. Inside the cave were some shocker lizards. Johana breathed fire on several of them and the rest ran away. We proceeded through the caves and went to the secret armory. This was where Kat began to murmur his delusions of becoming a traveling merchant, as he imagined himself adding the contents of the armory into the cart he pulls around.
We burned down some wooden barracks that were housing several ogres and hid in the secret armory for a bit. The burning rubble blocked our way, but also kept the ogres out of the caves, giving us a good place to hide while conducting guerilla warfare.
We proceeded towards another secret entrance through the caves. On the way it was pointed out that there was a nearby crypt. That seemed like something we should, at least, look at. That is where we met Mister Wight. He did not last long, because as soon as I realized what he was, Shalelu used her sunrod on him, making him weak and easy for Stormshadow to take out. Did anyone know he was with us? Kat might have, but I would not know as he kept muttering about being a merchant. There were some ogre zombies there, and after I determined that the wight had been here for 30 years, and had no apparent connection to the Runelords, that he had killed the ogres and turned them into zombies. It was a good thing that we blocked their way into the caves with the burning rubble. It would be inconvenient to have an ogre patrol come by when we were trying to get some rest.
After making it to another secret entrance, we looked at the tower and decided that would be a great place to start our next attack from. We teleported into the highest tower to find a waiting Lucretia. She teleported Kat away, I summoned Minion next to Lucretia, teleported Kat to be next to also be next to her, and cast detect arcana for all of us to be able to see the arcane, revealing the invisible snake lamias to all of us. Kat threw up on her, muttering something about being a merchant again. I wondered if he had ever stopped thinking about that.
That bitch burned me with hell fire, of all things, and then teleported away. Her snakelings remained behind to be killed by the rest of is as I scried for Lucretia, but her concealing magic blocked my scrying. I stopped trying as the bell sounded below us, and we looted the scene as fast as we could before I teleported us back to safety where we rested in the caves.
