What a Moldy Dump!

by Cyanne

After resting and researching its history, we set out to investigate Foxglove manor. I suspect that Aldern, the only Foxglove we know, has become a psychotic creep since we last met. Too bad, as he had seemed nice enough when we visited with us a while back. He wanted me to teach him some magic. I will show him some. He will not like the lesson. What began as a pleasant 3-mile hike with nature and wildlife became a trek to a horrible, sickly place. I do not know what I had expected, but this was not it.

The inside of the manor was even worse. We used the key to enter the front door into an absolute dump that was full of creepy, yet interesting, decor. Whoever decided the fungus was a nice touch was very wrong. It was overdone and outright disgusting. I wondered how it got so bad here. The need for maintenance is one thing, but this seemed somehow deliberate. Who would do that? Yuck!

A mutant rat was inside a tub. Scalebastian put it out of its misery. I wondered how this rat got mutated and who put it in the tub. While somewhat interesting, it was cruel and crossed the line between experimentation and decency. A ghost made Billy dance with her. A flaming ghost attacked Inutasha, and a scarf tried to strangle Billy.

We heard a loud crash from upstairs. That is when I realized Kat was not with us. We deduced he most likely had something to do with it, and we went up the stairs. All the doors were open and it looked like he did annoying things in some of the rooms like he usually does. Not that any messes he would make would be noticed in this place. They might actually make it a bit cleaner. I had a brief vision of being a small boy, whose parents were fighting each other, and whichever won was going to kill that boy. Kat had fallen through the ceiling in a wash tub to the upper (second) floor, and it looks like this had created the crash we heard. He was not there, and had presumably ran back upstairs.

I saw things that made it obvious that this home, if you could all it that, was dedicated to necromancy. While part of me finds that area of magic to be a natural fit -- for example, I can use my sorcery to create zombies -- as a wizard and scholar I abhor it. This foul place is an example as to why, for it is a path filled with hatred, murder, and rot. I would prefer to spend my time learning more useful magic and knowledge.

After we saw several weird hauntings, we arrived at the attic to encounter a revenant that was looking into a mirror, crying about what she saw. Kat smashed the mirror and she screamed something about Aldern and looked at Billy, who was wearing the scarf that tried to strangle him. As she rushed towrards Billy, Inuyasha wounded her with his sword. The revenant clawed into Billy. I stunned her with an Ear Piercing Scream, and Kat pounced her and ripped her apart with his claws.

Due to a brief moment of ghostly possession, Inuyasha jumped out a window in the attic. He managed to catch himself from falling to his death, as he grabbed onto the weather vane for his life.

After we were done messing around with the attic, we went down to the basement. In one of the rooms we encountered a large swarm of rats. They ran towards the group, attempting to devour us. They were gone within seconds, thanks to Scalebastian's fire.

We used the copper key we found upstairs to open an iron door to find a grotesque laboratory that had windows carved out into the cliff side. We found artwork that depicted one of the Foxgloves became a lich, and found books that taught some things on how he could do it. We found an area where someone had excavated some ancient spiral stairs. I had a brief vision of Aldern digging with a pickaxe and ghouls swarmed out and bit him, and they tried to swarm and bite me, too, until I willed the vision to cease.

Following the excavated stairs down, we arrive in a cavern. I summoned Minion to join us. We encountered a group of not-so-sneaky ghouls in a cavern. I hit them with a large fireball, but the environment weakened its effectiveness and, while wounded, they survived my wrath. Minion hit one with his new pickaxe we found. Scalebastian breathed fire on them, finishing all off except for one. Inuyasha killed it.

In another tunnel we encountered a large bat monster, and Inuyasha hacked into it before anyone could do anything. He has gotten really good at fighting. I am fortunate to have such a brave and skilled friend.
