Still Off To Invade the Invaders

by Cyanne

While we were camping for the night, my dream was interrupted to hear Minion yelling and arrows were hitting his shield. That made me angry, as it was a good dream. I was in Sandpoint, still a commoner that had not had to kill anybody yet. I was angry, and a little sad. Like I said, it was a good dream.

I came out of my acid-damaged tent, assessed the situation, and cast defensive magic upon me and my allies to make us harder to hit as I saw Minion skewered a barbarian and almost killed their leader with his trident only feet ahead of me. I wondered, briefly, if he also missed our peaceful days before adventuring. I bet he does, as he is much kinder than I am. With a sigh, I shot the druid leader with a flame bolt, killing him. We then finished off the remaining barbarian archers.

We had noticed a trail to their camp earlier in the day, but we had decided to leave them alone and keep to our path. We should have taken them out preemptively. In my foul mood, after replacing my tent with their best teepee, I burned their camp down. That cheered me up a little.

The Storval Stairs were an interesting sight. But the eroded statues of that ugly runelord were too much and we decided to enhance the view and Minion started smashing them with his maul. Apparently, some giants did not approve and started throwing rocks at us. Or, maybe they did not like that we were smashing them and they couldn't. We teleported up to them and killed the giants. We then went down and finished smashing the statues. I have learned to start hating these runelords and now I find myself wanting to destroy all of them. Too bad these are just statues.

A few days later we got to the fortress of the giants. They had an army in camps nearby. This should have been a surprise, but is not because there have been a lot of armies of bad folk lately. I wonder how this connects to our other adventures, or if it does. It does in that someone got them to attack Sandpoint, but this is something bigger than grabbing some evil stone from some old evil place.

While fun, a direct assault would be suicide given our small group. After looking around the area a bit, I used magic so we could turn invisible and fly over to loot the hoard of that dragon we killed (and Storm Shadow is wearing). After that, we cleared out some caves full of undead spiders. I used fireballs and flamethrowers as Meyos destroyed undead with his holy Sarenrae powers.

In the wyvern caves, which those stupid Shaonti found out about the hard way, I made a large wall of fire with my staff, lighting up the cave. As three wyverns flew toward us, Minion hit them with a grenade, killing one and severely wounding another. A wyvern flew from the side at Minion, and he skewered it, severely wounding it. A wyvern that flew through the fire also attacked Minion, missing, only to hit by an arrow from Shalelu, killing it. She then shot the one that Minion had skewered, killing it. We then killed the rest of the nest.

There was a secret passage into the Black Tower from inside the wyvern caves.
