Meridian District

Overview

The Meridian District sits at the mathematical center of the Copper Ring running in a narrow strip at the horizontal and vertical bisections of Novus. At the center the district surrounds the Collumn. This exact placement is used as template for determining various distances, balance points, and measures.

Playing off this legacy, the Meridian District contains the Standards Repository, a museum like vault that contains the mathematically backed standard weights and measurements for all conventional used measures of distance, volume, weight, and time.

The district includes the main thoroughfares of the Copper Ring and travel junctures to lower or higher levels. The district is largely a merchant district, hosting all number of businesses, from craftsmen to various venders of necessary goods.

The Meridian district is the most affluent district of the Copper Ring, sometimes blurring the line between the Silver Ring both physically -- as numerous buildings within the district stretch vertically up into the next level -- and intangibly as many residents of the district have wealth on the same level (or even above the level) of residents of the Silver Ring.

The Meridian Distrct sits above the pulse of Novus's varied inhabitants and is one of the few places where residents from a variety of social backgrounds may find themselves intersecting. In a way, the Meridian District is a microcosm of all of Novus, and great care is taken to keep the district both beautiful and orderly, far more than any other district on the Copper Ring.

Points of interest

The Meridian District is home to the Hallowed Abbey. Many times throughout the years, religious festivals are held in the district, under the watchful shadow of the ancient abbey.
