The Coil
The archipelago consists of 25 major islands, and one moving one. Most of the colonized lands are their own autonomous island-nations.
Tortuga: The moving island. The city itself is on the back of a massive turtle. The land was bought by Detland Wilks and he has led his people as a prosperous city with a trade based economy made easy by trading locations essentially coming to them.
Cherno: The second largest island with a large population and military chooses to remain largely isolationist. It is well colonized island with a wealth of natural resources consisting of the cities of Vertorin, Mstishin, and the capitol Simire.
Lelina: The largest island in the Coil. Its Royal Family boast a complete colonization of the island. It's dotted with settlements and cities with impressive military reach across the region. Crown patrols keep the peace and ensure the people of the island are kept safe from any creatures that thrive in the spaces between settlements. All major cities; Linnistat, Quin, Conialen, and the capitol of Coflena; are along the inner coastline of the Gulf of Wyverns, with a view of Vivo.
Harringham: A small island that is used for little more than a military staging ground of Lelina for defense against the slavers of Butcher Bay.
Vivo: An island consisting almost entirely of the volcano of Viv, inhabited by the Order of the Hidden Blades. While the territory officially belongs to Lelina, they are left autonomous due to respect for the powerful religious order.
Caia: The first island to be found by explorers from Aldas . Diplomatic relations were opened right away and they have benefited greatly from it. It is the main travel point between the two regions, and a stopping point for airships between Aldas and Iocrias. This massive influx of travel has been a massive boon for their economy and had a lasting effect on their culture. It contains the military castle of Torchguard, and the capitol Aray.
Raunuma: A mostly wild island that has several enclaves of fairly untouched Elven villages.
Piban: A hot desert island with sparse vegetation. The only city is the sprawling oasis of Cherzabad which houses almost the entire population of the island.
Macham: A small rainforest island that serves as the home of a large population of beast races
Rithi: Known as the jewel of the Coil, the island is a picturesque location with hilly forests, rivers, and waterfalls covering the mostly untamed landscape. Even the city, Aquinda, is built into the nature around it.
Klia: An island dominated by a strong Elven civilization that have consistently managed to rebuke any invaders or would be conquerors, helped largely in part to the cliff covered landscape. Ushin Iju is their most famous city, while Sengo is their capitol.
Caustole: One of two small islands owned by the people of Klia that acts as farmland for cash crops
Causbole: One of two small islands owned by the people of Klia that acts as production space for luxury goods
Lormia: A mostly uninhabited island ruled by dangerous creatures and dotted with strange ruins of civilizations long passed
Sirneth: The closest civilized island to Iocrias and as such, despite its solitary nature, has a strong economy due to trade. They are heavily culturally influenced by the Asir people. Their capitol is Chalateto.
Kogia: A territory of the Nasir Empire that; due to its proximity, familiar flat landscape, and arid climate; has been purchased and settled by an Asir nobleman and relative to the Emperor.
Kanaka: A loose federation of smaller farming and fishing settlements that banded together to avoid other, stronger states imposing their will onto them. While their navy wouldn't be able to survive an all out war, their success is in being more trouble than they would be worth. Its capitol is Kode
Venic: A heavily Dwarven occupied island, with surface settlements mostly operating as trading posts to support the massive city of Brazenthrone.
Lotan: An island inhabited almost entirely by peaceful artisans. They tend to be deeply religious and cautious around outsiders, but overall are a very kind people, if not a little secluded. Their only major settlement is the temple compound of Loran
Souford: With no major port cities to speak of, the Halfling dominated island mostly keeps to itself as its people happily live off the land.
Aflia: A smaller island who's capitol is Finbarr's Marsh. Their proximity to the island of Tive have made them strong and forced them to heavily fortify their one and only port city to keep the slavers afraid of attacking them. While generally prosperous and civilized, living so close to such danger have made the people fairly cold-hearted.
Tive: The home of the violent Tivan people. Slavers, pirates, and butchers; only their strong are respected. They terrorize the waters of The Coil and harass military ships, taking plunder and slaves whenever they see fit. Their cities are Seuen and their stone keep capitol of Dobru
Ulev: The island in the center of Butcher Bay, The Tivan people keep their slaves here, where they can keep them secluded from any chance of rescue and "withdraw" however many a slaver requires for their job.
Nan: An island that has abandoned the entire northern shore due to raids from the Tivans. The southern coast is slowly in economic decline as other islands see less and less reason to trade with them.
Soue: The island farthest from civilization in The Coil, it has been used as a hideout by many that society has shunned. Vampires, mad wizards, and would-be rebels have all made this island their home at one point or another.
Geography
The Coil consists of a series of islands in a loose spiral. The archipelago is very volatile due to the close proximity of clashing cultures. The area is also the largest concentration of intersections of Leylines in the world, causing additional instability in the region.
