Nearly single handedly propped up a whole house so the others could do some fancy magic and repair the bank under it today. It was that pottery shop we visited before with the chime ringer, apparently Wet passed on a message to Cualli. We’re really starting to be well known in this place, I seem to be helping out with everyone’s problems. I should have realised that before with the conversationist stuff but it’s outside the school too. No wonder people like Esi and Chizire are jealous of us even if they say they’re not. We keep getting stuff handed to us. Literally, free lunch and this weird pottery stuff.

We got some of the others involved in all the ritual stuff though so they didn’t feel left out. I told Anchor Root about the event and a new teacher who wears bones but she didn’t seem impressed. Guess she spends too much time around bones for it to be special.

I made a half hearted attempt at helping out with the ritual too but I was right, I wasn’t going to make much difference. Teacher Ot says there’s some kinds of magic that don’t work as well if you have a “strong sense of self”. Huh. I never thought about magic like that. I knew different people learned different things but I didn’t think much about the reason behind it, just thought they studied what was interesting to them or it came naturally like mine. Does that mean the other people helping out today aren’t sure of who they are?

More importantly, if there’s magic that people with a strong personality like me can’t do easily, does that mean there’s magic only I can do?
