I forgot I was writing in this. It's been a busy couple of months. Talking to people in the city was getting me nowhere, either nobody knows anything about tunnels or snakes or ghosts or they don't want to tell me about it. Except for Malnar, who just keeps talking now that some kind of dam in his head has burst, everyone else seems like they've been avoiding me.

Whatever. I was feeling restless so I signed up to join some healer group outside the city. They didn't teach me much more than I already knew but they did give me a more advanced kit and it's been useful, especially recently.

Now I'm back and there's supposed to be a grand event where people come from all over to watch us put on a mask. Cualli seems to think it's a big deal, something to do with a reflection of your soul or spirit? How am I supposed to know that? I'm just going to use the old dead snake skull Illiara gave me. That's good enough.

...I didn't invite him but I wouldn't put it past Tariku to have found out about this stupid ceremony anyway.
