Midnight's Journal: After Diners, Dungeons & Dives

So that could have gone a bit better all things considered...
 
The goal was to get Pim and Lio to the top unharmed. I failed that miserably. By the time we got to the restaurant they were exhausted. Should have insisted they stayed behind me after the shark but this was THEIR day. I wasn't about to start an argument with them. Perhaps I should have. Maybe they'd have been better off. Then again, the food was refreshing? But apparently not nearly as good as advertised. No wish granting or anything of that sort... or perhaps there was. Myself and Vatna performed some music for the two and their date seemed to go well despite everything. As for myself? They had it. They actually had it! Mead from my home village! Not just any mead, but the Applemint Cyser Mead! How did they get that!? I'm going to have to invite some select people for when I open that. Share the story of my fallen friend. My brother. It will be a day of mourning, but also celebration. It had been so long since I could share a drink in his honor. Now? I finally can.
 
As for the events leading up to the restaurant. We passed through an underwater floor with a very obnoxious shark... and an interesting octopus brain creature? Unfortunately our reservations were on a time limit so we couldn't take it up on its offer. Pim got bitten pretty bad by the shark but managed with minimal injury. I tried driving it away a few times, but it insisted on causing trouble. Would have loved to make a necklace from its teeth. Second floor? Armored golems protecting keys, Vatna got some magic key and we mostly smashed right through that floor. Third was an ice floor with some strange penguins with mouths in their belly and long tongues and some other strange creature. Made that floor quite simple with my shadows especially. Got a bit of treasure along the way too. Fourth was an elevator with a puzzle. Just some skeletons and a puzzle. Last was where the problems were. Traps all over the place, wearing us down. We disabled and destroyed the traps as we could but after I blasted away a bunch of the traps? Some weird bearded rabbit guy with a cockatrice attacked us. It was an absolute nightmare. He managed to flail about, doing a lot of harm to Pim in particular which combined with his cannibalism? Angered me. I was going to let the shadows devour HIM. Poetic justice. But the others killed him before I got an open shot. Probably for the best. I helped finish off the cockatrice and we moved on, rushing through. A mistake as Lio then fell into a pit of centipedes, once again proving the point that I should have made a bit more of a fuss. Pulled him out well enough though.
 
Thinking about it, I REALLY should have made that fuss. There is no reason we should have gone through all that without me even getting a scratch. Where's the fun in that? The couple getting all the injuries while I get off untouched? It's embarrassing! I need to do something to make it up to them. But what?
