"Ugh, that was an absolute nightmare...
So first trip out of the shield we go to some apiary town that worships Beezus. Makes blue honey that tastes... different. I'm concerned about how that'll affect the mead. Like it didn't taste bad, but not what I'd expect from honey. The people were kind and welcoming at first, if a bit dodgy. Mostly I spent time helping out around and talking with the locals but eventually I got curious and extended my shadow out to try and feel the worst of the place's past. A risky prospect given the nature of our new world, but I had to give it a try eventually anyways.
I didn't see much.... but what I saw was concerning. No grand event. No crazy town lynching or massacre. Not even an attack on the town. All of which would be concerning in themselves of course. No.
I smelled brimstone.
I saw a burning bush. Bare humanoid footprints going out into the forest in the west.
The birth of some creature perhaps? Heading into the world with the darkest of intentions? It seems the most likely possibility. I've reported what I saw but we hardly had time to be looking into it.
See the townsfolk wanted us to stay for a feast and various homes played host to each of us. Certainly was kind of them, though I insisted on doing my share of the housework. A good house guest is as little of a burden as possible and tries to return the kindness after all. Regardless of if they welcome us back or not, I fully intend to send them a gift first opportunity I get. Whether they accept it is up to them, but I will not have it said that I am ungrateful.
Only problem was they wouldn't let us go out at night. Strange to say the least but we found out why when some of the crew snuck out and encountered a giant.. wasp? I suppose? The creature was dangerous but Vatna, Clem and Quet drove it off well enough. Stranger still was that the town wouldn't even talk about the things. It made no sense. Like why ignore them to that extent where you wouldn't even explain what they are to others? I wondered if they were for some reason being threatened but still, scouting seemed the best idea so Akhana, Isaac, Caram and myself went to check it out.
It didn't go well. We stumbled into some sort of ambush and I was down before I could react. By the time I regained consciousness we had been rescued apparently from their nest which the rest of the crew obliterated. Apparently they had to leave the town to save us which left the town very unhappy. I can't help but be a bit indignant at the people taking such offense. Do they care so little for the lives of comrades that they see hospitality as more important than helping others? Like I think about the idea of abandoning Akhana, Isaac or Caram just to make some new friends and I find myself sickened. I don't think I like these new people. Still, had I not been so overeager and overconfident... I almost led three of my comrades to their deaths. This world... this isn't Liminal. This world might actually be just as dangerous as my home. Might even hold some portion OF Meterra. I honestly don't know, but it is clear to me that I have to treat it like it is. I'll just have to avoid making the same mistake again."
