So ended the day naked in public and smelling like lemons. At least I feel cleaner than ever. Guess that slime stuff isn't so bad after all if the formula gets adjusted a bit? Either way, the burner that had the remnant of it has been passed along to the science department. Whether they destroy it or learn to control it? Up to them. Just hopefully whatever they do I don't have to deal with that chemical smell EVER again. Was nasty. All in all, it's been an interesting day. Suppose I'm lucky I'm not one of those fleshy beings with all their dangly bits exposed. Pretty sure there'd have been problems.
Anyways, I'm not exactly being clear with what happened today. Long story short, I got picked to be one of the judges for the World Fair. I didn't really have as much to ask most of the presenters as the others, largely because they pretty well covered most of what I had and then some. The most notable entries were a a mushroom covered canine called Nicholas, some otter whose name I missed, a Spindel named Millie Bays I think, Akhana, and the pairing of Peanut and Rupert. Going to keep most of my scoring to my notes which I'll copy down into my journal too. All the while in between we went to El Pea's little game set up. A set up that involved very clearly rigged games, but allowed us to use whatever methods we chose to get through them. I did ok my first couple tries. Third I basically crushed my foot with that damn enchanted hammer. We did however manage to get ahold of a powerful magic item though. Might come in handy in the future.
As for the presentations, two things happened of significant concern. First off, somehow information about the heart crystal leaked. Either the owl talked or we have an information leak. I'm hoping it's the former but I fail to see how it could be. How would he know we didn't destroy it? He was unconscious, wasn't he? Maybe not? Something to consider.
The other concerning bit? The awful awful cleaning slime presentation from Millie Bays went wrong. Very... and grew into multiple massive slimes that endangered the fair. There weren't many options. Tranquilizers worked but a prolonged fight could spread quickly. I used a spell scroll to summon a tornado which seemed to work for a time, but only delayed the issue. Someone or multiple someones from the crew? Summoned a storm of acid rain that caused all the blobs, including the ones I caused to start floating away, to merge into a massive blob. At that point we just called for sniper and artillery fire from the ship and hoped it'd kill it rather than scatter it. Unfortunately I was a bit too close to the creature and got pulled into it during it's death kneel. Perhaps it was calling for help? I say this because I saw in a brief moment something in the slime. The burner that was used in the presentation it turns out as I pulled it free with a small amount of the slime remaining. The very thing I turned over to the science department, making sure they were aware of that possibility. It's also how I ended up basically naked, only my pockets surviving. I suppose those extra layers helped. Seriously though, if we could get something like that with a strong ginger scent though, wouldn't be so bad? Maybe? And a better disposal method than it farting bubbles? Like if it was just trained to spit the gunk out into the trash or something. There's certainly potential, just some MAJOR issues to work out. A pet slime that could give you the feeling of a fresh bath while out on the road would be amazing. Wouldn't replace baths entirely as relaxing in them is part of the point, but it'd be nice still. Especially if there was a variety that removed or masked scents in a more subtle manner? Would be a great hunter's tool. I ranked it poorly for a wide variety of reasons, but I think the concept was actually one of my favorites. It's just everything that COULD go wrong, did. I'm just glad I didn't eat it as apparently it actually is sentient.
Wait... they seemed to slip up and say they FOUND something, but insisted they created the slime and programmed it? What if both are true... what if this is the original they found and what we found is the sentient creature? I don't know if I'm right, but I'm writing a note to the science department about that information immediately so they at least examine that possibility before just killing it or something.
