A strange day to say the least. We went through the rift to explore somewhere? Then went to some giant worm eating itself that apparently had a library inside? Probably one of our strangest trips. Not something I would question had events not played out the way they did.
I was at my station, taking scans. Nothing really stood out to me really. Think I was practicing some rift calculations during the off time? Nothing major but then suddenly we got attacked by paper soldiers. Strong ones. Incredibly so. I hadn't had a fight like that in a while. Both myself and Lio were getting pushed back pretty hard to the point that I actually resorted to finally enchanting my blade with the full force of my shadow magic while Lio bought me time. It helped me cut my way through the soldiers, working to keep them away from the engine.
The rest of the crew struck in similar ways. The Captain, in particular I feel unleashed a particular impressive bit of hell on them with her storm magic. A sight to behold for sure. By the end of it a voice rang out from one of the damage soldiers, shouting that they will return and will have revenge. For what reason? Clearly they fought with the away team but what caused the fight? Was it an origami person? It would explain the soldiers and why when looking through their sliced up paper bodies we got pieces of some incredible and heroic stories. Things like what are told about the founders of my home village kinds of impressive.
It reminds me of some of the unease I had about the Word Tree. Perhaps I was wrong about the Word Tree itself? Maybe there are beings of that sort however that have the will to manipulate the power of Word Trees to their own ends though? I'm not sure. There are still too many questions. What I do know however is that he attacked our ship. He hurt our crew. If I ever meet them? I will not hold anything back. We came far too close to disaster. Far too close to our destruction. We can't let ourselves be caught unprepared like that again.
