Midnight's Report: Wolf

Threat Assessment: High
 
We underestimated the threat level Gibbet's experiments presented in the plains. Details are as followed:
Tower 1: Covered in a crystalline structure, likely dream crystal. Rapidly draining magic from the area and projecting it into the clouds. Given limited tools, a risky maneuver was determined to be necessary to slice through the device. Crystal structure may remain and need to be added to the list of final cleanup. Also there appeared to be a shadow version of the whale ship. Given the events that transpired in the Thimble during our absence? I suspect the fears of the people of the Thimble were brought to life here while some of our own fears manifested in the Thimble. See my previously submitted personal journal entries related to the Ice Banshee from my home plane for details.
Tower 2: Protected by small shadowy creatures with incredibly sharp claws. All creatures but one destroyed, which transformed into a strange entity that escaped. Mana battery recovered and device disabled.
Tower 3: No immediately obvious protection or issues other than an unusual level of forgetfulness seeming to be indicated when we were in its presence? Obvious tools that myself or other crew members usually kept on hand we somehow had forgotten. Given the unusualness of the circumstances and the extreme level of coincidence of us all simultaneously seeming to engage in an unusual degree of incompetence, I suspect the reality manipulation that we have encountered in brief moments from time to time.
Central Pylon: Massive dream crystal collecting massive amounts of magical energy. Seemed to attract spiritual entities of some variety while draining and destroying others. Collapsed into a massive hole that contains large amount of similar crystal.
 
Assessment of Magic Drain:
Examining the corpse of one of the creatures killed by the magic drain revealed properties in the corpse similar to null metal. The being was more than simply dead. It was as if everything it was is gone. Recommend extreme caution when facing similar events in the future.
 
Assessment of Central Hole:
The source of the devices taking the turn it has seems to be in the hole. Massive crystal structures were spotted, making it highly likely these crystals have been spreading underground for some time. Proximity to Consonant and the dream crystal connection is highly suspicious.
 
Personal After Action Report:
The Black Dog spirit that has taken residence in my shadow was attracted to a mana battery, drank it and then was drawn to the central crystal, taking much of my shadow with it. This resulted in a colossal entity that presented a massive threat. Mana battery was removed and spirit was injured, retreating back to my shadow.
During this process, I attempted to invoke the power of the tooth I received from the Kuk'lah. The normal spirit of Hope that balanced with my shadow magic did not answer the call. Instead if I had to guess, it was a spirit of Compassion given the feelings I sensed from it and its desire to end the suffering of the Black Dog and what was occurring in the Thimble. It also altered my normal transformation. Adapting was a bit of a challenge given compassion doesn't usually enter my mind when it comes to a fight. Not certain how such a thing occurred, whether the spirits actively took an opportunity to fight back against what was occurring or if there is more to these transformations than we realize.
 
Recommendations: Forward this report to the Mysticians, multiple copies to ensure Officer Vatna doesn't simply ignore and eat this.
Follow up team to explore the central hole. Heavy firepower recommended, particularly of the non-magical variety.
Review previously submitted journal entry on Ice Banshee and compare to witnesses of the banshee that appeared in the Thimble to confirm if the creature was indeed the one I describe in said journal entry.
Additional research into spirits, particularly as it relates to the Black Dog during our next visit to Folksong or other areas that may hold such information.
