"An interesting time I think...
First mission with Officer Lore. I hope I proved myself well enough to her. Although honestly it ended in a bit of chaos.
See it was a mission to recover some stolen books. Simple enough I suppose. Requires a different sort of tactic than I'm used to but I can learn. Three books. Unfortunately they didn't have a fully clear visual description and apparently some worse things happened in that library then theft, so it made it a mild challenge.
The thief did leave a trail however. A scorch mark on the shelf and the smell of brimstone. Strange to think about. I had a dream about such a thing and that's what I smelled in that village when I saw the burning bush and footprints. Smell was awful but yet something draws me to it. Like it calls to me at times. Strange, but we managed to follow the trail to Sal's tower.
We scoped the place out a bit, figured out the security and it looked rather rough. We gave our real names, I assumed Lore had a plan and decided to follow it to the letter. Kept honest. Less chance of a slip up and I have an option if it becomes an issue anyways. Adli was noticed after transforming to do some work however by a frog girl named Rebecca who apparently has a thing for metal I guess? Weird, but hey, if it's her thing, it's her thing. Who am I to judge after all my escapades back home? Still, it was new, caught me off guard. Lore made a deal with her as she was flirting with Tarkus. A deal we'll have to eventually head back to fulfil. I know I'd be cross if we started breaking deals. Got to have some standards.
In any case, she told us about about Sal's hidden stash so we went to find Sal to lift the key. Lore distracted Sal for us as we acted as her security detail and with a bit of distracting, I used a little bit of magic to lift the key without Sal's security officer noticing. Heh, didn't even need to use my shadows. Just a light brush against him after activing a scroll in the dark, Lore grabbing his attention and bam, we had the key.
Trick was then getting out. I remembered the alert on Lore's communicator being a bit obnoxious. Strange device that. Does stuff other than communicate apparently? The fact it's related to Bobert though? Concerns me after what Caram has told me. Anyways, that gave her the excuse to get out, we left, went to go back to the tower, got in the elevator and began searching the penthouse. After some searching and fiddling with a trap, we got into the secret room. I found a cloak in the process that further had the brimstone smell. Not normally a thief, but you know... in for a penny, in for a pound? And honestly... something drew me to it. Don't know why or what but I'm sure it will become clearer in time.
Anyways, this is about the point everything went wrong. Lore somehow started a fire, alarms went off, and they were already in the building? Was a mad dash to find the books. I blocked off the fire and the entrance to buy us some time, but that time was going to be limited.. we grabbed the two we could find before decided we needed to go. Plan was initially to get out the window and I would use my shadows to glide us away. Adli however? Turned the entire tower into a plant... yes.. a plant. That was a bit much, but what's done is done? Anyways, out the window, we went, Tarkus a bit faster than the rest of us... Lio isn't going to be happy about that, but well, I tried to stop him and offer a safer path. Not much I could do to stop someone determined to make a massive splash.
After all that we decided to head home to lay low for a bit... on which note, I guess I made this recording out of habit. Leaving evidence of what was definitely a crime, even one that was in response to a clear crime itself? Probably not great. Well, guess I'm going to have to burn this one."
