Orc Highway
The Orc Highway is the main trade path and roadway in the Queendom of Keeleon. It runs north to south across most of Tarteria, from Porgorag in the north to Monbaraba in the south.
Description
Porgorag to New Keeleon
The highway is cobbled bricks within the city limits of New Keeleon, and this fades quickly to a wide road of packed earth and wagon wheel tracks north of the city. Here, on the border between the Desecrated Hills and the Northern Orcish Plains, the hills and ridges of New Keeleon fade as the road goes due north downhill into the large Rexun River valley. The largely clay and scree landscape changes to grasses and wetlands farther north along the road. In the wild, a number of animals have been seen from the highway, including wild boar and maned wolves.Roadside Cairn
Approximately one hundred miles south of Porgorag, there is an old battlefield on the western side of the Orc Highway. A large cairn of round and gray stones covered with moss growth and dirt sits on the edge of a field of stunted grasses, dirt, and oily mud. There are faded symbols of Nerull, The Scythe-Bearer, on the rocks, which have faded from erosion.Axe-Breaker Thicket
The Orc Highway connects with the eastern end of the Black Marsh Road at Axe-Breaker Thicket. The thicket is a small forest of hard Axe-Breaker trees that surround this intersection. The pathway here is trodden and packed dirt, but is susceptible to rain making it muddy and to the danger of these hard-to-remove trees falling across the roadway.History
The Fifth Age: The Age of Beginnings
From 21 to 27 Madaet 5A 352, Mortimr Gwathagoldrin traveled with Kelwin's Magical Toys and Concocted Wonders along the Orc Highway from Kievs to New Keeleon. On 27 Madaet 5A 352, Romulus passed through the Axe-Breaker Thicket from the Black Marsh Road, where he began traveling north along the Orc Highway. On 27 Madaet 5A 352, Chaka joined Kelwin's Magical Toys and Concocted Wonders and traveled northwards along the Orc Highway from New Keeleon. On 30 Madaet 5A 352, Kelwin's Magical Toys and Concocted Wonders reached Axe-Breaker Thicket, and was accosted by bandits who had felled a tree across the intersection for the Black Marsh Road. After the battle, Mortimr cleared the tree. On 31 Madaet 5A 352, Romulus arrived at Porgorag. On 1 Adroth 5A 352, Mortimr and Chaka arrived at Porgorag. On 4 Adroth 5A 352, the Santeem Republic aid caravan started southwards, protected by the Lightbringers and led by Captain Levka Ruslan. On 7 Adroth 5A 352, the Lightbringers repelled several bandits while camped at the Roadside Cairn. Late that evening, they battled restless ghosts. In the morning, they revitalized the land with a Plant Growth ritual and repaired the decayed cairn. On 10 Adroth 5A 352, the Lightbringers were ambushed by several demonoil-tainted Ankhegs of various sizes while camping along the Orc Highway. On 12 Adroth 5A 352, the Lightbringers and the aid caravan arrived at New Keeleon.
