Demons' Blood Marshes

The Demons' Blood Marshes is an area of wetlands at the mouth of the Rexun River in Tarteria. It is a corrupted place that has been permanently tainted by the large amounts of demon blood spilled during the Battle of the Demons' Blood Marshes that took place here at the end of the Great War.

Description

The marshland became soaked with the blood of uncountable warriors and demons during the Battle of the Demons' Blood Marshes. It would be forever changed into a ruddy and oily marshland, sodden with demon blood. Small natural gas fires burn pockets of the ichor throughout the region and the wails of long-lost warriors can be heard on full moon nights.

History

The Third Age: The Age of Zenethia
At the end of the Great War, the allied forces of the races of Azimuth sailed forth and landed on the coast of Tarteria. There, they were met by the demonic forces of Esturk, The World's End, and the marshes became the site of the largest battle of the age: The Battle of the Demons' Blood Marshes.
The Fourth Age: The Age of Shadow
After the Great War, an encampment was founded to begin the long process of recovery and accounting for all those lost in the Battle of the Demons' Blood Marshes. This would become the village of Gimoruk, located at the southern edge of the marshes.
The Fifth Age: The Age of Beginnings
From 5A 348 to 352, Romulus worked in the marshes to clear corruption and delve for lost artifacts from the Great War.   As a result of the blocking of Chedae's light in Tarteria, starting 2 Avedar 5A 351 due to events at Red Lake caused by the Prophets of Regression, the corruption of the Demon’s Blood Marshes started spreading farther.   At some point prior to 5A 352, Lord Lortuk was involved with efforts by the guild to map the spread of corruption in Tarteria.   At some point before Adroth 5A 352, Romulus helped a group of Hero Hunters adventurers through the marshes and directed them towards Gimoruk.
