The
Rexun River is a major river in
Tarteria and is one of the longest rivers in
Azimuth. It flows northwards from the foothills of the
Orog Range in the south, up through
Red Lake, and out to the
Demons' Blood Marshes and the
Leviathan Sea.
It is a major lifeline for the
Queendom of Keeleon and many settlements and homesteads rely on the waters and supplies it provides.
Description
The Rexun River is one of the largest rivers in the world. In the foothills of the
Orog Range, the river supplies the fertile fields of the
Southern Orcish Plains, which supply settlements like
Stipa Fields. In
Kievs, the
Zharigie River flows into the Rexun.
In central
Tarteria, the river empties into the ruddy waters of
Red Lake. The river continues out towards the
Northern Orcish Plains, carrying some of the red tint from the lake.
At
New Keeleon, the river is a wide and deep flowing river, approximately two miles wide. At this point, the water is opaque and filled with silt. A section of the river is separated by the large embankment wall of the
Breakwater Keep. The river water that is held within the embankment is calmer than the free-flowing river.
Farther north, the river reaches the
Demons' Blood Marshes, where it flows out into the
Leviathan Sea.
History
The Third Age: The Age of Zenethia
At the end of the age was the
Great War. When
Esturk emerged with the
Power of Evolution, a great collapse of northwestern Tarteria occured, and the land sunk dramatically. This formed the
Western Valley and redirected the ending sections of the Rexun River.
The Fourth Age: The Age of Shadow
In 4A 995 in the early moves of the
Tarterian War, the demons of Esturk came to the Rexun River and met the gathered armies of the
Kingdom of Keeleon.
The two armies clashed on the banks of the Rexun. Many demons were slain and orcs were felled. As a last attempt to stop them, the crossing itself was destroyed, but the demons in their numbers were only temporarily hindered. The demons pushed back the orc forces from the riverbank, and from there the battle was lost as the orcish lines broke.
The Fifth Age: The Age of Beginnings
In the early Fifth Age, the city of
New Keeleon was founded on the banks of the Rexun. The resources from the city would supply the growing settlement and the clay from the riverbank would support a growing industry.
In the evening of 12 Adroth 5A 352,
Romulus transformed into a water snake with the old box of the
Eight-Pronged Residuum Ring. He swam to the river’s center in New Keeleon, transformed back, and dropped the old box to the bottom of the river.
In the morning of 14 Adroth 5A 352,
Nedurr, the Mud Mage, was creating clay figurines on the riverbank in
New Keeleon. The
Lightbringers approached and were quickly accosted by several Mudmutts that were pack-bonded to him. During the battle,
Captain Levka Ruslan was killed and revived.
On 16 Adroth 5A 352, Romulus cast a water-breathing spell on himself,
Arwin, and
Ilmendwyth, and they approached the
Watermill Gallery from the river.
