Red Fang Chapter 36
Errol ignored the shouting for as long as he could, burying his head under the blanket but the noise came closer until someone was running along the corridor. He groaned as that same someone started banging on his door.
“What, damn it? I only just got to sleep,” Errol shouted and opened a bleary eye. He broke into a coughing fit and rolled over to spit on the floor. His mouth tasted foul as if something had crawled inside during the night and died. “Captain, it’s the king,” Vik said as he opened the door and stuck a candle through the gap. “He’s demanding to speak with you.” “What?” Errol barked as he slumped back onto the pillow. His head felt like a lump of lead and his body ached something terrible. “What hour is it, Vik?” “After midnight, Captain. You’ve only been asleep a few hours.” Vik came in and shivered at the frigid air seeping into the room. “Your fire’s gone out.”If you'd like to read this as an ebook or paperback, please follow the links.
