Praethin River (PRAY-thin)
The Praethin River (or simply 'the Praethin') is the westernmost river to emerge from the Eizunuth Well, the northernmost river on Icalar, and the only east-west river. It begins at the Well at its easternmost point and runs west along the edge of the Uscerre Shelf behind the Maidra Foothills through mid-north Ustraria, where it crosses the Ustrarian-Kivan border, tips south, and then ends at the Baon Well where it disappears underground. About a third away from this ending, at the border, the Root River splits from the Praethin and runs directly south.
The Praethin is one of Ustraria's primary sources of fresh water, and two large aqueducts from it carry water to Korzhûn in particular. It is also a significant trade route between Ustraria and Kiva.
Because of its remarkably straight path, it is sometimes called 'the Arrowshot River' or 'Racers' River'.
Geography
It is by and large a very gentle and wide river with the exception of its start point and after it crosses the border, where it grows mildly more turbulent. However, unlike many of Icalar's rivers its high season and low season are much more pronounced, even if the behavior or its water does not change much.
