Glass Crater

Long before the Tear, a huge meteor impact into the ocean drained most of its water into this nearly 61 miles wide crater. It caused a tsunami, swallowing the surrounding lands, taking many lives. After everything settled the once ocean floor laid dry, slowly forming a desert and spreading into the surrounding landscapes.
The edges of the crater are made from glass which formed from the heat of the impact, shining in all shades of yellows, greens and turquoises. The elves use the crater to harvest the unique glass and use it for crafts and buildings, also some of the gemstones that were formed and unearthed in the past.
The bottom of the crater is not visible when standing on its edge, all the light gets seemingly swallowed by the black hole the impact has left. There is known to be water all the way at the bottom of the crater, but so far nobody had shown enough interest in it to climb all the way down.
