Valderin's Gate
The capital city of the kingdom of Ederaa stands tall and proud as the pioneering city founded by humans in this land. With the first recorded instance of a portal opening, the army under the command of Algernon Valderin, later also known as Ederaa's first King, had crossed over into this world and had found themselves stuck. Instead of giving up, they laid the foundation of what now is known as Valderin's Gate.
Valderin's Gate is also known for its advanced educational institutions and its vast knowledge resources, which are the city's main export and always kept safe at Stormkeep. The city boasts an array of libraries, schools, and teachers, making it a hub of learning and scholarly pursuits.
While officially led by Valderin's King and Queen, their oldest son, Lord General Valerian Valderin, is residing in the city manor with a handfull of his closest advisors.
Badrick is a skilled blacksmith who inherited his family's forge and has become well-known throughout Valderin's Gate for his high-quality work. He's also known for his quick wit and friendly demeanor, often striking up conversations with customers who come to his forge. In his youth, Badrick was a talented musician and still enjoys playing the lute in his spare time. He often performs at local taverns during festivals and is beloved by many in the community for his musical talent. Badrick is also an avid collector of rare and unusual metals, often spending his free time scouring the surrounding countryside for interesting finds. He's even been known to commission special projects using these rare metals, such as a suit of armor made entirely from a rare, blue-hued metal he discovered on a recent excursion.
Rylan is a retired adventurer who has settled in Valderin's Gate to enjoy a quieter life. Despite his age, he's still incredibly fit and is often seen jogging through the streets or practicing his swordplay in the town square. Rylan is a bit of a local celebrity, having been involved in many legendary quests and battles in his younger days. He's known for his storytelling abilities and often regales audiences with tales of his adventures at the local tavern. Despite his reputation as a fierce warrior, Rylan has a soft spot for animals and is a devoted caretaker of the town's stray cats. He's been known to spend hours at a time sitting in the town square, surrounded by purring felines.

Expensive Privilege
"If you want to know a person's rank, just look at their hands," nothing describes the class gap in the city more then this. Nobility never gets their own hands dirty, they have hirelings to do it for them. Scars are not only considered a sign of lower wealth, but also of weakness.Luxurious Trade
The huge farms around the city supply most of the land with cotton, which arrived in with the opening of the gate in the year 500 in Ederaa. Anything crafted from it is a well sought-after and also expensive ware. Most of the kingdoms books and scrolls are written in the capital and distributed by boat or carts, also the best tailors are working in the capital. The import of goods like metal, food and leather goes mostly by ships from Greenriver Port and other farms and towns up the river, or by trade with the Dwarves on the other side of the ocean in the south.A Key To Safety
The city is surrounded by a huge stone wall and is always manned by a brigade of guards. While the main city gate normally remains open, the local military is always wary of who enters and leaves, and most of Ederaa's army is stationed in the fortress of Valderin's Gate, making it an extremely risky target for an attack. While officially led by Valderin's King and Queen, their oldest son, Lord General Valerian Valderin, is residing in the city manor with a handfull of his closest advisors.
