Shadewell
Long before the world was ripped from its original lands during the Tear, the town was already left deserted. Many say that the spreading of the desert after the impact of the great meteor might have forced people to move, other signs speak for a huge storm after the collision that took the lives of most of the inhabitants. Only the buildings and their interior remain, slowly decaying with the passing of time, swallowed by the rising sands.
Where life and death intertwine
A small steam of glowing water starts to form during the evening with the waning sun and rising moon. Everything it touches seems to come back to life, even though a 'spectal' one in appereance. Grass and flowers are sprouting along the river, spreading outwards and climbing fences and buildings, which slowly seem to repair themselves and return to their once intact selves. Doors are opening and around corners people seem to follow their normal daily routines, as if nothing had ever happened to them. While to the viewer these people and buildings appear to clearly be not real and ghosts, a mere echo of a former reality, to them you seem to be the ghost. Looking down you notice your feet can move the grass, just like a soft wind. While you are able to pass through the villagers you may see them turn around, as if someone has touched them, but nobody is there. Their hair may move with you while you walk past them, their clothing lightly following as moved by a unseen source. You may hear them wonder what just happened, some even talking to others about their experiences. And while you can't change their past, they seem to be able to change the future in this area, even if only ever so slightly. The collar of a good boy buried after a long happy life under a family tree may leave a treestump in the future with bones beneath, that haven't been there the day before. A door that was once broken may now hang straight in the hinges of the abandoned house... If there would only be a way to communicate with them.Dear Chroniclers,
feel more than free to use the townsfolk as teachers for rare recipies that might have been forgotten, or to allow the players to gain access to materials, that may only be reachable in time before the Tear, as long as the party finds a way to communicate with them.
