Molten Forge
Many years before the Tear, the dwarves built a forge on the foot of the volcano to use the natural flow of the magma to refine ores and metal, which didn't melt under normal circumstances. After Tharg-Calan became inactive, they abandoned the forge.
Hundreds of years later Fierca, the Everburning (fire dragon) moved into the sleeping vulcano, reactivating it. The half-Elves found the forge during their scouting expeditions of the land and started to use it to craft magically improved items. The dwarves caught wind of this and taught them how to process Obsidian, mined around Evenfar Fortress, in exchange for assistance by half-elven golemancers during its mining process.
